A fair comparison would take into account all the improvements of Gen 3 over Gen 2 (screen resolution, processor speed, battery, heart rate monitor, health & fit functions, etc.), not only the cons.
You don't need to justify why you won't buy it, but at least be fair and objective.

Not justifying, but pointing out that the improvements you mention (processor, battery, etc.) are commodity to any of the current crop of AW smartwatches (Fossil Gen5 specifically)

Tag's lure was super quality build (titanium) and machining, the uniqueness and usefulness of the modular concept, and by the way, the Intel processor they used in Gen2 was unique as well (and performance still is quite good)

The fact that all aspects of the 'premium' experience that Tag provides seem diminished in Gen3 ... at a higher price IMHO is a huge disappointment.

As I said earlier, I am taking a wait and see approach on this when my current modular connected gives up as to where to go next.

I was a day 1 purchase on the Gen2 -- and considered the Gen1 (which was a little too plasticky in person, but the TFT screen was nicer than the Gen2 screen in some ways) ... and would have been a day 1 purchase of an updated Gen3 ... had they released a modular version.

I really hope this watch is a huge success for them, because if it is not, they will likely drop the connected line completely.

Of course they are trying this, that's why they made a survey.
And tomorrow you will see the result...

The survey was made last 27th of January, around one month ago, when the Gen3 was already designed and defined... so maybe TH will use the results of this survey for the Gen4, but for sure it was too late for the Gen3 🤔

Of course, I bought them in day 1, otherwise I could not compare them properly.
Gen3 is a step forward much bigger than Gen2 was compared to Gen1.

I don’t agree: Gen2 vs Gen1 mainly added a full case in titanium (plastic caseback for Gen1), 50m water resistant, GPS, and the most important feature: the Modular system

Gen3 vs Gen2 is downgrading from titanium to stainless steel, is losing the Modular system, and the only new significant technical feature is the heart rate monitor... which could be easily added to the Gen2 with a bluetooth heart rate monitor belt, so... if you talk about design, then I agree: of course there’s a bigger difference with Gen3, because both Gen1 and Gen2 were sharing design with the 45mm Carrera (Heuer 01, Heuer 02, and Heuer 02T)... and tomorrow we will see whether Gen3 is sharing design with another kind of -more classic- Carrera or what... it’s just 15 hours remaining 😉 👍

😲 Adding LTE and at nearly half price of Gen3 (which has no LTE), this new Summit could be a serious competitor for Gen3, which has lost the main feature to differentiate and defeat the rest of luxury smartwatches: the modularity

You made your point. And you have got an impressive collection, but the modular concept is gone. With all this mess around modular features for different sizes (I was "unlucky" from the start with TH 41 as some say), simplicity is bliss.

Tomorrow you will change your mind. 😉

😁 No, I’m not changing my mind! I’m sure it will look great (it looks so on the teaser), but the compatibility with current Modular system was a red line for me... and it’s not even modular!

I can only connect one smartwatch to my iPhone, so buying and connecting the Gen3 would mean that I cannot enjoy my Modular 45 collection (2 bracelets, 3 lugs, 12 rubber straps, 8 leather straps... and both types of buckles) anymore with the smartwatch module, so I will keep with Gen2 Modular, which is running better than ever after last Wear OS updates. I’m fine with its processor, screen, functions... because in fact I’m only using notifications and music control, so nothing from Gen3 is seducing me enough to buy it.

If you still have Gen1 and Gen2, it would be nice if you can post here a “family picture” with the 3 Gens... 👍 if not, maybe we can wait for @Hubert 😉

I'm more with Albert-AMG in this; the next Connected may look sexy as hell but with an antiquated processor it may prove a rather risky buy. Modularity could have been a cool and unconventional solution; I was hoping that the ability to switch between smartwatch and analogue modules would be extended to upgradable technology of the smart modules. That would take away from the stress of shelling out app. €2000 for technology that may become "previous generation" in a few months.

Really? One can tether only one Wear OS watch with iPhone? I have three watches tethered on my Sony. I'm anyway no big fan of Apple, but the main reason I have an Android is definitely my TAG Heuer and my other smartwatches. Having a TAG Heuer Connected is pretty special and I don't want to compromise its functionality. Whereas an iPhone is not that special in comparison to any flagship Android. They are all same fast, intuitive, easy to use and take great pics. But priority is the TAG! :-D

Yes, at the moment Wear OS for iPhone only allows one tethered smartwatch 🤔... I hope they will change it in the future 🙄, but who knows?

Maybe I should change my priority 😉, but being iPhone user for many years (since iPhone 3), I’m not comfortable with Android phones, and having so many Gb on icloud and on my -nearly full- 256 Gb iPhone X, it would be hard to change from Apple to Android 😵‍💫... On the other hand, this limitation of just one tethered smartwatch is the only problem I have found in the relation between the TH Connected and the iPhone. For sure Wear OS has improved a lot this compatibility 👍

Well, I will be with Albert in this too if I spent a fortune on these straps. Surely people are pissed off. But ironically I'm the one who is lucky after all because I don't have such liability. Nevertheless I have some cash to spend and the dilemma for me is between Garmin marq captain (I have a boat), TAG Gen 3 or even Autavia Heritage. Will see. Apart from this messy product placement from TAG, I found their smartwatch really useful at the office between meetings with calendar reminders and quick hands on on calls and messages, time zones, faces etc.

They didn’t ask about the hardware, it was about the software & apps and this is easy to adapt in a few months.

I sold the Gen 1 the day I bought the Gen 2 and I’ve sold the Gen 2 this evening...

They didn’t ask only about software & apps. There were also questions about battery, straps, customization, and also open windows to talk about anything, being hardware or software... and this was just six weeks ago, when some people had already seen the Gen3 seven months ago! (just look at this thread on 25th of August), so I don’t think the survey was useful at all to define/design Gen3 because everything was done 6 weeks ago... maybe they are already working on Gen4

OK, so we will wait for @Hubert ’s picture to see the three Generations together 👍

Anyway I’m looking forward to seeing the launch of Gen3 tomorrow, and pictures from your Gen3 next Friday 😀

Do we know what time they're going to unveil the watch? This buildup seems really cheesy.
