Not, on the contrary:
TAG Heuer took care of Gen1 and Gen2 owners, offering us different “Connected to Eternity” programs to beat obsolescence:
Gen1: after two years of use, you could take advantage of the exchange program, receiving a new Carrera Calibre 5 for a much lower price than usual
Gen2: the Modular system allows any Gen2 Modular owner to buy a Calibre 5, Calibre 16 -or even a Heuer 02 Tourbillon!- Carrera mechanical modules at much less money than a complete standard Carrera, so you have a mechanical Carrera at very good price and you can keep enjoying your collection of straps, lugs, buckles, and bracelets even when the smartwatch module becomes obsolete
Gen3 owners have not been so well cared by TAG Heuer, because being more expensive than ever, Gen3 has no “Connected to Eternity” program, so all the investment will be lost when it becomes obsolete, and there’s no advantageous program to upgrade it for a mechanical watch either
So being a Gen2 M45 owner I’m not angry at all with TH, because the Modular system is brilliant to keep the investment. I would be happier if it were possible to just upgrade the smartwatch module, but it’s nothing serious, because my Gen2 M45 is running better than ever after last Wear OS updates. So don’t worry, and if you don’t want to buy the Gen3, just enjoy your Gen2!
