2020 Connected E3 - A disappointment

There a few essential thing I am really missing and severely impacting the day to day usefulness

1. Watch does not notify via vibration or notification when it looses (Bluetooth) connection to the paired phone
2. Find my phone is not working (with Galaxy Z Flip)
3. very limited apps which can be used as tiles (for instance showing times in other cities all over the world)

These were all functions I had with my previous smartwatch (for a tenth of the price) preinstalled and even after extensive search and trial and error couldn't find replacements in the google app store.

Specially with regards to the Find My Phone function I contacted both supports (Tag Heuer and Samsung) and of course they blaming the other manufacturer. Still, at this price tag I expected a little bit more functionality from my new smartwatch. Probably I was to spoilt from having smartwatch and phone from the same manufacture before.

Having the smartwatch and phone from the same manufacturer will always mean a better interaction between the two, because they have good reason to extend and enhance the 'conversations' between the two items.
Otherwise you're relying on two different manufacturers working to a common connection standard, probably specified by someone else; which will always be a limiting factor: each manufacturer will do the bare minimum to meet that standard (because there's no point making additions that will not be embraced by the standard).

"Find my phone" works only when the watch is within Bluetooth range of the phone. Do you mean that for you this doesn't work even within range?
Also TAG Heuer has a great variety of watchfaces with GMT functionality, that should resolve the missing GMT tile, shouldn't it?

Thanks for your reply,
no, it doesn't work in Bluetooth range. I works when the phone is flipped open but not when it is closed :-(.
With regards to watch face... yes, of course, there are plenty of watch faces available, but I like the Heuer 02 with 3 complications (if you call it complication on a smartwatch). So I am stuck with no tile for different time zones.
But what bothers me most is the lack of notification when you loose Bluetooth connection to your phone.

Kind Regards

Sounds like your phone is closing the Bluetooth connection when you close it. Have you tried it with a different phone?

Do you keep the Wear OS app on the phone running at the background? It’s not normal that you are losing the bluetooth connection, unless
you close the Wear OS app

I am loosing Bluetooth when I am moving out of Bluetooth range (as expected), for example I am leaving the house, forgot my phone inside. My old smart watch reminded me with vibration and notification when the connection to the phone was lost. A really helpful reminder not to let your phone behind.

I understand it now. Yes, there is no other warning than the crossed out cloud on the screen when you loose the bluetooth connection, but no vibration. Even through the WatchMaker app settings there is no option to activate vibration when bluetooth connection is lost... it’s a watch just for people with good memory 😁 😉

Just go to settings/System/about and tap on the Bulid number 7 times. Then go to settings and you got the developer Settings in the Bottom of the Settings Menu. In this Menu you can choose "Vibration when Connection change" (Don´t know how it calls in english, i have the german Settings) 😀

Finally restart the watch 😉

First of all thanks for your reply, I have developer options (English-language) already enabled, but unfortunately no option that resembles the one you described is available. I contacted customer support, too. See what they coming up with. Perhaps you can add a screenshot of this option.

Joerg

Looked on my phone, not on my watch.
Excellent tip! Vibrates now on connection change.
Thanks very much

Moving on to my next problem.... Find my phone function.
I agree with Rockburner that having the smartwatch and phone from the same manufacturer will always mean a better interaction
between the two, because they have good reason to extend and enhance the 'conversations' between the two items.
Nevertheless the problem bothers me. Unfortunately I tend to forget my phone somewhere in the house or at work.

My Watch is a Tag Heier connected 2020
Model number D406

My phone : Galaxy Z Flip
Model number SM-F700F/DS

Both updated to the latest software updates.

If my phone is unfolded, locked and screen off the Find my phone function from my Tag works prestine.
If my phone is folded (locked, screen off) the Find my phone function works for a fraction of a second and followed by silence.
If I fold (close) my phone while the Find my phone functions is working (phone is ringing) it stops immediately.

I paired my Tag with another phone (Samsung S8) and it works fine.
My old smartwatch Samsung Gear S2 worked well with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip (even when folded).
I got the standard reply from the Tag support team (reset, restart, unpair, re-pair etc) which is not helpful.
Samsung is not responding at all.

Anyone with any suggestions?

Thanks

I've had the 2020 version for 3 months and I do not think it is worth the money.
The battery is poor, and I rarely get a full days use out of it, and I'm not using the watch to anywhere near its full capability.
Even if they priced the watch to compete with the Apple, Apple would wipe the floor with it.
I feel £1K of the watch's name is due to the Tag brand.
