2019 Heuer Monaco 50th Anniversary Editions

I have been lining up the images and staring at the 5 new Monaco's this afternoon.
I was trying to see if I could tell anything new from those horrible quality images on that site.. you know which one I mean.
I'm not sure if I am imagining things or just wanting it to more special that it looks but I wondered if the case of the CAW211Z was actually a heavily brushed almost rough metal finish as apposed to just the normal polished metal finish.
I am getting intrigued by this version as that image seems to be hiding something.
Anyone got any thoughts.

Personally i thinknit is just pixelation/artefacts from the very low res oictures. They are both low res and very heavily compressed so a lotnof the colour palet has been lost. That is why the 2nd watch looked so much better in the flesh as the thousand shades of red on the surface were rendered down to a flat colour in the leaked photo. This is nothing different IMHO.

All i will speculate on is, that chances are they will all quite likely look a LOT better in the metal and we’ll be wishing we could afford the box set

Ah yes, sand blasted or bead blasted that was the term I was searching for.
It would make sense as this looks like a “ dark mode” Monaco ( stealing a term from APPLE)

The good: The dial is ruby red and gorgeous. Just what I hoped for.

The bad: The presentation box and the quality of the new leather strap is no where near what it used to be on other Limited Edition Monacos. Thankfully that doesn't matter much and can be easily remedied.

Looks good in the metal (real life photo).

I still think the white date wheel is lazy design and they should have used the same finish as for the subdials.

You're probably right, but no big deal. A reflective white would have worked well too, probably better than the grey on the subdials. That would have addressed your observation.

What's wrong with the strap, is the design boring or is the quality bad? What strap are you planning to use with it?

The quality of the outer leather is not as good as other fine grain leather in other Monacos. It felt asperous to the touch, but it will probably improve and soften with use. The red inside leather is the same. I plan to leave it the way it is.

I had to look up the meaning of asperous!

Maybe it's tougher because men were more manly in the 80's?

That's exactly how I hoped the dial would look- more ruby, less copper.

Saying that I feel like a bronzed/copper version would look pretty sweet as well... I know there’s a version that occurs like that in the vintage space but I don’t know enough about it to quote it though - just looks awesome 😀
