Okay, I will say I did feel a little nausea creeping in when he dribbled paint over a £50k+ diamond encrusted Heuer 01 Carrera... but the original 2018 F1 is terrific fun.

 

Each to his own but the kindest thing I can say is that I'm not sure it's aimed at people like me in their mid 40s.

 

What's age got to do with it... I must have missed the date when I was supposed to start acting old and strapping on a nice Patek.

 

If only I was a youngster like that, in fact though if you subtracted your age from mine I probably still wouldn’t fancy one.

You're going to force me to elaborate on my comment now. It was a polite way of saying I thought it looked like a watch for 12 year olds. Sorry, but you made me say it. Normally I don't say anything if I can't say anything nice.

You can also look at it as a nice reminiscence of childhood days.
But I must say paying thousands in order to wear a stopwatch on your arm, and measuring time of men driving around circles in their colorful cars is much more mature .
What I want to say, is that this whole wristwatch-hobby is not something, that would necessarily demonstrate a completely sane mind, would it?

 

Hopefully Aquagraph knows I'm only joking. If I saw a friend wearing an Alec Monopoly Tag in real life, I would probably give them a bit of stick, but given my enthusiasm for watches, would definitely want a closer look!

Hehehe, yes of course.... I just think it's a shame that he's gone because he brought a bit of fun to a hobby which can be a little bit too.... umm, 'earnest' at times. But I never saw the sense in the AM Carrera... firstly because the subdials, TH logo and date got in the way of the design and secondly because of the price...

Yes, I agree. The AM Carrera was not as successful a design as it could have been.

 

How about Heironymous Bosch as a replacement for Alec M. He's been dead for 500 years, but that shouldn't really matter...
