Aren't there only 50 of them anyway or something? Unlikely to be for sale yet unless they're flippers...

I remember that 3 of the 5 allocated to the UK were flipped on Ebay within the first 2 weeks. Hopefully they're now safe in the hands of loving true fans!

I wouldn't mind at all if TH comes out with an updated version of this classic on the H02 Monaco. If done properly, I might like it even more than the Gulf 1st win.

Michaels post in the other thread got me going back to this thread. Gosh this version of the Gulf Monaco is perfect in my eyes. I could stare at King Hubert's photos all day!

Has anyone seen any of these for sale on the used market in recent times?

Jim, haven’t seen any of the CAW211T’s on the second hand market at all.
I’ve been interested to see if any have been put up for sale, but as some have mentioned, after the initial “flipping” of a few ,they seem to have settled with bonafide owners.
Reading the messages around the new Monaco bracelet, and the comparison against the old “bling” version as some describe it, I was motivated to get it out of the safe and snap a few photos.
Some of the Macros show the texture on the light blue Gulf colour which is invisible to the naked eye.

For what it is worth, I’m with Mr Orange and favour the old bracelet over the new one.
But not having seen it in the metal it’s hard to say that with any real confidence.

@heuerholic thanks for great photos 👍

About the used market, if one were to come up I could probably not afford it anyway so enjoying photos will have to do 😁

I agree, that's the best Gulf Monaco for me, the lighter blue works better to my eyes. I like the texturing detail too, very cool.

The 211r also has this cool texture. Bruce's review showcase this very good in macro video for example around 1:44

IIRC, the cheapest I saw was around $8500 USD, most flippers where asking $10k. I was almost going to make an offer, but someone bought it.

I still remember seeing TH's Instagram post for this watch, but thought they were simply advertising the normal C11 Gulf model and didn't give it much thought. Then I realized it was slightly different and the tiny differences somehow made it so much nicer. As I pondered how badly I wanted it, it was gone in a blink of an eye from the US TH website. Another missed opportunity that was so close, yet so far! 🤦

Why is it TAG Heuer always seem to do this, it's like they have a board meeting where they have two designs and they vote which one is the best and they make that a super limited edition and put the one everybody thought was 'okay' into regular production. I guess that's not the case, but it feels like it sometimes. And I guess there wouldn't be much point making a super limited edition of something people didn't really want, but timing... put the limited edition out first and then when they've gone release the nicer one. But then I guess people would get wise to that ruse after a while. I guess the other option is to make it limited but not so limited that there's ten buyers for every piece, like the 50th Monacos, I'm sure they could have sold 300 of each.

Agree, but the funny thing about the Gulf 1st Victory is that it's so similar to the normal C11 Gulf that nearly anyone seeing the watch wouldn't know the difference. Also, it wasn't that much more expensive either. So why have the two be near identical twins? At least the Monaco 50s were all quite different.

I would've preferred if TH had released the 1st Victory as the single C11 Monaco Gulf model as a limited edition of 1968 watches.

Anyway, next year is the 50th anniversary of the movie Le Mans. I'll be mighty disappointed if we don't see a new Monaco Gulf. 😗

My memory is bad but is this not a bit harsch? Is it that common that all the good pieces are limited and the worse versions go into regular production?

So what you are saying is that I should start saving for a Gulf H02 Monaco 😎

Edit: next year prices will probably go up an additional 10% so a H02 Monaco will probably cost 8500 Euro in gulf version. Good times....

Yes. For me it all came down to the colours. I wanted to buy the the regular Gulf edition, and was hugely disappointed when I saw the colours were wrong. The 1st win had the right colours, and they only made 50 of them. <Sigh>

If they're specifically making a heritage motorsport watch, then they have to get these details correct, especially for this kind of money. It's paint FFS, how hard can it be?! Otherwise there is no point. Let's make a heritage-inspired Lotus watch, but we won't make it British Racing Green, we'll make it Seafoam Green instead... That'll hit the spot with the target demographic, right?!

I still can't get passed the clash of the red and orange detailing. Those two colours just don't work together, IMO.

Isnt the blue stripe on the car211r paying tribute to the blue stripe on the racing suit instead of the car? So not taken out of the air from nothing I mean
