Which watch would you like to see TAG re-issue?

I see. However do keep in mind that even Tudor were selling Submariners in the '50s and '60s too, and the Black Bay is a modern reinterpretation of those watches - but is not a reissue.

In Blancpain's case, they don't seem to have much else going on at the moment so yes, they're doing as much as they can with the Fifty Fathoms including reissues. I admit I don't pay much attention to Blancpain though.

(Also, on the lower end, Zodiac has begun producing the Sea Wolf again, which many people forget was also one of the first dive watches in 1953)

As for the Omega, well that situation's different. They actually went and laser-scanned original Seamaster 300, Railmaster and Speedmaster examples in order to release what outwardly appears to be a 1:1 replica. Say what you will about creativity and whatnot, but in my opinion these were fantastic designs to begin with and have the same appeal in modern times. I like them so much I bought the Seamaster 300 and all I can say is, if you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up 😀

Thanks for the reply. Good points.

You mean like one of these? 😜

I popped into the local OB today to enquire about a leather strap and deployant. A bit pricey, but I think I’ll be ordering them soon.

I'm still on my quest to find a Spectre. I missed out last week on one that was posted at a fairly decent price. I did however, take a picture of the 60th Seamaster against the 300 the last time I found a boutique that had both.

Of course. Here you go. I also added a Heuer crown.

A T dial would be a big bonus. No need for aged lume. We would just need to wait it out. My wife wears her 1000 almost daily. Looks fantastic

Though the SM300 MC is pretty cool, and I've been keeping an eye on prices as I'd love for them to get cheap enough to wear as a rainy-day beater. Still about $3,500 on the secondary market though.

And, if you're looking for Omega straps, I may or may not know who their supplier is - who can and readily will make you a custom strap for quite a bit less than Omega charges for a stock strap. It's still expensive but 100% worth it.

That's not bad, I feel like that's what the Aquaracer should look like. But the F1 bezel weirds me out a bit, any way to keep the bezel design but 'shop in the numerals from the Aquaracer?

Agree...but I've run out of skill to do that! You'd certainly for for the dive bezel of the 1000 rather than the F1 bezel.

I know the easy thing to do would be to make it a Calibre 5, but I reckon the 1000 is mainly seen as a quartz watch...so I'd go for quartz

How about a 1000 reediton for the next forum special edition?

I did raise the 1000 as an idea.

The question will be whether fitting a new round bezel (which I think you have to do to make it a 1000) would require any new parts to be made and homologated. Given the shape of the bezel, i don't think you could just drop in a round insert, so you need a new part (unless the F1 bezel does fit)

Any time a new part is needed, they would have go to through the expense of designing and testing..which wouldn't make sense for a low volume run...that's why most LEs are based on existing case/ movement pairings.

Funilly enough I actually went into the AD with the intention of trying on that vary one. But in the end decided I preferred the regular (non ‘57 Trilogy) version instead. For my personal taste the thicker bezel looked more balanced. I seem to recall thr ‘57 is slightly smaller also. I tend to favour 40mm plus watches.

Also the price difference was huge for what is essential the same watch (i generalise I know). £5700 for LE vs £3,400 for the regular. That saving bought me 1/3 of a Planet Ocean .

Both are really nice and practical watches though and ideal as a daily as dressy enough as well as sporty enoygh at the same time. With added toughness and practicality.

I would go 844 Monnin too. Here's a little photoshop fun. Borrowed the Aquaracer bracelet and sharp lug edges + Tudor case and bezel + 844 Monnin crown guards and dial. The red 24 hour indices are my favorite thing about the 844. It's just so cool. Cathedral hands are a close second for me.

I'll just quietly point out that the Grand Carrera case has 844 lugs but different crown guards.

Nice work! Something blue all around would be great.

True, though in this case I think the extra development work for the LE (which extends to its box, which is even a reproduction of the one the original model came in in 1957) warrants some of the increase. And we're talking about watches after all, pricing for which is more often pulled out of thin air rather than merited by differences.

For me, the unique thin bezel design of the 2913 gives it an extra flavor that most current dive watches don't have. I haven't seen the new 300M models in person but they look cool and modern - I'm more into a sporty elegance anyway.

BTW - the 1957 is available on the secondary market for US $5700 or so these days, and within a year you'll see the 300Ms / POs going for quite a bit under retail too. And now that Omega is offering a 5-year warranty, I'd much rather buy "used" for a regular non-LE model

The new 300Ms are stunning. Some more thannothers. And the new wave dial seems to divide opinion a little. But I’ve seen them on a number of occasions and it has taken will power. I’m holding back now as need to spend a little more wisely in future rather than ‘oh that looks noce, i’ll av it’ 😜
