Which watch would you like to see TAG re-issue?

I believe tag should produce a heritage dive watch to sit alongside the aquaracer and compete with the back bay etc.

I would go for something based on the 844 or - left field - the bund
Dive watches are all the rage and Tudor and Rolex have substantial heritage in this field of course. In the mid range it would be next to impossible to introduce a true BB challenger. I'm seeing a lot of interesting divers from micro brands with Seiko or Miyota movements. My picks are the Baltic and Unimatic divers that can be had for well less than $1000.

Proper Monaco with proper old style pushers.
2019 will be the 50th anniversary for the Monaco and I guess TH will have some nice new references coming out to celebrate the occasion. It will be interesting to see what they come up with, but "real" re-edition of the original doesn't seem to far fetched!

Since they've shown they can do a Heuer 02 GMT — I wanna see a Pepsi Autavia GMT. With the Rolex/Tudor Pepsi craze, and Heuer having it in their heritage too, I think 2019 is the perfect time to release it. As long as they get the red/blue right.

Based on something like this:

We've had several discussions about this already. Many of us are hoping this will happen too.

Not being a big fan of vintage I don't spend too much time looking at older Heuer's but every time I see a 'proper' Monaco it always strikes me how different it actually looks to what I'm used to, so much squarer and brutalist in design. On the one hand I can see why TAG perhaps don't want something like that in the shop window as it would probably look a bit 'unfinished', but on the other hand if it was a proper limited edition it would probably sell out before it hit the shops anyway. I know it's always a bit of a sticking point - making cases for limited editions, because of the costs, but I'm sure a low number limited edition would be viable even if it was very expensive... and they're not going to get a better excuse to do it than the 50th Anniversary. But on the other hand we'll probably just get a blue dial 'McQueen' in a fancy box.

I’ve got two Monaco’s. A TAG one from 2005 & a McQueen Heuer re-release from a couple of years back.

Both lovely but they lack the vintage style Mushroom pushers like on my Silverstone, Monza, Carrera & Autavia re-releases.

First in the queue if they do a Monaco like that 😀

I really need to get my hands on one of these, unless they'd like to make a new one???

A slimmed down Autavia Pepsi would be cool, as would Monaco with round pushers.

Simpler diver model much like the 844/1000 models would be great.

Whatever reedition models they do they need to keep the them slim in my opinion so they can be worn casually as well as under a cuff.....which all but the Carrera’s don’t do.

Agreed on the diver. If TAG could re-issue the 1000 series with an Automatic caliber with a sub-$2000 price, I think it would find quite a few takers for those longing for a Rolex/Tudor but not quite so flush with cash.

I can just see the forum arguments now... It's not a knockoff Submariner! It's a reissue of Heuer's earlier knockoff Submariner! Totally not the same thing! (Only partly sarcastic here -- the 1000 series is a legitimate heritage model for TAG, so they have every right to do it, and personally I would be interested -- I find myself shopping vintage 1000's fairly frequently. But, yeah, ultimately it's a knockoff, but then again so is every other diver in existence....)

I would tend to agree. I have a TH 2000 from mid 1990s with a quartz movement, and it still looks really nice by today standards (despite being 36 mm, quite small when compared to the average 40+ mm of today's watches). An automatic re issue in 38 or 39 mm would be a great addition to the line.

Below is my quartz TH.

Oops ... Re reading the post I realized that I misread @wt_guy post. You mentioned the TAG 1000 and I thought about the 2000 ... my mistake. :whipped:

I would go 844 Monnin too. Here's a little photoshop fun. Borrowed the Aquaracer bracelet and sharp lug edges + Tudor case and bezel + 844 Monnin crown guards and dial. The red 24 hour indices are my favorite thing about the 844. It's just so cool. Cathedral hands are a close second for me.

Every chance they might as every other brand seems to be jumping on the bandwagon of seamaster / blancpain knockoffs 😜

That Longines is a reissue of a watch they made in the '60s, not a knockoff.

With respect, I think you’ve missed my point. See below 1957 example. Which itself is v similar to some of the FF designs which i belive pre date the original SM300.

Update: From what i was able to find out in a quick search the watches below are dated 1953, 1957 and 1959 respectively. Being the first of Blancpain, Omega and longines designes of this ilk. The 1957 Omega design sharing a name and concept but (imho) not much in terms of aesthetics with a much older model from WW2 era. To my eyes the Tudor BB et al who share similar design are all rooted in the FF/SM style. Hence my glib remark about being ‘knockoff’.

Evidently as the video above states it is based on longines’ own original heritage piece I did not mean thay had come up with a modern ‘homage’ 😜 But it is a style that is very ‘on trend’ at the moment. Even Omega have relaserd an anniversary example of their homage to their own heritage.

I see. However do keep in mind that even Tudor were selling Submariners in the '50s and '60s too, and the Black Bay is a modern reinterpretation of those watches - but is not a reissue.

In Blancpain's case, they don't seem to have much else going on at the moment so yes, they're doing as much as they can with the Fifty Fathoms including reissues. I admit I don't pay much attention to Blancpain though.

(Also, on the lower end, Zodiac has begun producing the Sea Wolf again, which many people forget was also one of the first dive watches in 1953)

As for the Omega, well that situation's different. They actually went and laser-scanned original Seamaster 300, Railmaster and Speedmaster examples in order to release what outwardly appears to be a 1:1 replica. Say what you will about creativity and whatnot, but in my opinion these were fantastic designs to begin with and have the same appeal in modern times. I like them so much I bought the Seamaster 300 and all I can say is, if you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up 😀
