Senna should have won Monaco 1984 in a Toleman from 13th on the grid, had it not been for a highly controversial decision by race direction that relegated him to second place after already having placed first. That should have been his seventh victory in Monaco out of 10 starts. And in fact, he had his eighth in his hands, when in 1988 he was leading by a wide margin but clipped the guardrail when he relaxed when the “old fox” Prost radioed that he would settle for second place. Practically eight wins out of ten starts, and the absolute record (although only six count) in Monaco, cannot be compared with the almost trivial victory of Panis in 1996, where only four cars finished the race 😉
