Congratulations!! 馃榾
Thank you!
I waited a super long time to get this one. Ever since I laid eyes on the 40th anniversary edition 10 years ago, I wanted a Blue McQueen re-edition. However, the 40th was too expensive for me at the time. I thought I get one used, never did. When this CAW211P was first announced, it was at the top of my wish list. I went rushing to my AD as soon as they had one. But I couldn't get the discount I wanted, so I passed, expecting to find a better deal elsewhere, then for one reason or another I never got one.

As the Monaco's 50th approached, I duly waited even longer to see everything that was released. Finally I was thinking I'd wait to see if a H02 version would be released next year. But an opportunity came up to get one at the price point I wanted, so I said to heck with it and just got it. At last, old blue is mine.
Now I'm wondering what took me so long, it's such a nice watch and the definitive Monaco. 馃グ

I think I may have just bought a Fragment Carrera... 馃槜
You think? If so, congrats! That's definitely been on my wish list too, my favorite of the current Carrera models. 馃憤

Yes, I think. I have bought one through Chrono24, although the German dealer is saying they now need to source the watch (although they are very confident apparently). We'll see!

Oh hell yes.
That's what I'll be saying if it turns up. Quoted at 2-3 weeks for delivery.

Thanks. Yes, I am a little doubtful now, especially given the price I paid, although they seem to have lots of good reviews on Chrono24. Main negative from those seems to be the time it takes them to source and deliver, so I am prepared for a wait, but they appear to have hundreds of satisfied customers.

Well done @imagwai - Hope that comes through for you.
I'm a fan of the Fragment design but unfortunately my wrist size cant handle the small 39mm.
I am amazed at the high prices they are demanding on the second hand market. Earlier in the year, I saw one in Japan in a second hand Brand Shop for sale. Seen a few online also, all between the $9000 - $10,000 USD mark.
Hope you didn't have to pay that much.

Congrats @Mspeedster - That is a great story and one similar to mine.
I fell in love with the CAW211A when it first came out but couldn't afford it. I now have both P & A after a long wait.
I love reading stories about how we finally source watches that we have longed for, for many years.

I know you are a leather strap kinda guy but I suggest getting a bracelet also for it as it changes the watch a lot.
Can be a bit Blingy at times but I'm sure you can pull it off. 馃榾
May pay to wait though as there is a new bracelet for the Monaco coming out next year and this is a more traditional, old school look.

Anyway, congrats on your new Monaco.

I'm always wary of those adverts. Fingers crossed it comes through for you though.

Yes, I am wary also, but I can't really see a downside to trying. I certainly won't lose my money as it's held in escrow (plus purchased on credit card). If it does come through, then I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Thank you @heuer1860! Yeah I definitely prefer leather straps, but this new Monaco bracelet you mentioned seems intriguing.

Truth be told, this was an unexpected impulse buy. I had saved up for the Monaco 50 and I thought that would be it. But since the Monaco 50s turned out to be more affordable vs the 40th, I had a little leftover just in case the rumored "J" 1000 LE turned out to be a must have for me - which it wasn't. Still, I thought I'd wait until next year to see if a H02 McQueen 1133B re-edition would be announced. But then I thought, what if they also do a H02 Gulf Monaco for the 50th Anniversary of Le mans movie? More waiting and there's always something. I'd be in an endless loop of waiting for what might come next. So glad I pulled the trigger! 馃榿

I still cannot decide if the Monaco is for me. Been swaying between the Calibre 11 (prefer then left hand crown) and 2 register dial. Tried on numerous times, just unsure, bug bare non in-house movement for the price, Speedy Pro Moon Watch or last gen Seamaster SMPc again in blue.

After a blue faced watch, mainly into 'diver' style watches - already own Panerai 560, Tudor BB58 and vintage Seiko Arnie. Never had a chrono and prefer a diver bezel for timing. The Monaco just looks so damn good, also tried the Bucherer Blue F1, great VFM just again unsure on Sellita, Spacer plate rumours and not keen on the bezel.

Thoughts? Thanks Brad

I'd say that Monaco looks perfect on your wrist. And in my personal opinion, the one you're wearing there is the best modern iteration of the Monaco (and yes, I'm including all the special recent editions when I say that).

Agreed. If I was buying a Monaco, it would have to be LHD in blue
