Grandson just pulled the trigger on one of these(or similar), often thought about one like this myself.

I think I’d like to try the Cartier on before committing so will try and find one somewhere first

The Cartier is so different to the WOS Carrera, I guess you just have to decide which one you like the look of best.

I'm afraid I've never liked the Cartier - looks more like jewellery to me so not my style.

totally agree about them being so very different. The fact the Cartier is more jewellery esque as you put it, is what I like about it

Just got a confirmation that the transaction has gone through and the watch has been collected. Now the wait has started to March when I get this in hand. No.10 is here!!!! i was lucky enough to get a NOS for a 20% discount on retail, plus got the 5 years warranty since it got registered from March 2022.
The silver spirit is strong with this one. Bless you

Indeed I've been looking into these myself and I read the size can be confusing. It's a lot bigger on the wrist than the size suggests. Lots of case and bracelet. I've never tried one but I expect the midsize would be most to my liking.

The Cartier is a brand and model I really want to like, the large wears very big, the medium suited to average wrists.

Just something not quite there IMHO, and I can never put a finger on what.

Over the summer while we were in Montauk we happened upon one of those Watches of Switzerland roaming showrooms (they do them in an Airstream, it's pretty cool) and I tried on one of the black DLC Santos models. That was actually pretty cool and I get it, though it's not for me.

I must have deleted the photo I'm afraid 😬

Thank you o righteous one. Now I need to hunt for an appropriate exotic leather strap for this.

popped into the Rolex AD today. They had the new white gold daytona in the window. Pretty cool watch, 60k though.
They also had 3 BB58 in stock, 1 standard and 2 blue. Like both a lot.

Wow, the pics are great and very helpful and interesting what you say about the sizing.
I thought I had my heart set on a large after eating the connected 45 modular but now I’m not sure
Guess it’s a visit to somewhere that has one but will have to be on my own because I’m not sure I can face the questions from the other half

thanks for that as it’s not something I thought of really as I just assumed I’d need and want the large but now not 100% sure.
A day out watch shopping it is then lol

I’ve tried that model on as well & for me ticked loads of boxes, until I felt it, felt more like a £100 Toy watch (if anyone remembers them). Shame as it looks amazing.

Same AD tried the Rolex 36 Explorer on, was blown away by that.

No problem. My missus loved the larger one (oi oi) and prefers that to the Monaco. But easily felt like a 42mm watch.

Medium straddle the smart/ casual vibe. Prefer it on a strap rather than bracelet. But I know I need lume on those hands, plus 48hr power reserve on their ‘in house’ movement isn’t great IMHO.

Iconic watch from an iconic brand, & one I see getting harder & harder to get.

Visited the Trafford Centre last night - bloody freezing in there as they’d turned the heaters down to presumably save money - but I did notice the MoonSwatch tour was in town.

All sold out but they will be there throughout December. I may try and pop by to get one at some point…apparently Neptune is back on sale again too, according to the manager of the Omega Boutique opposite the Fiat!

Very interesting, so I'm guessing it's dated 1989 or 1990?
Indeed, serial 4825.... places it between july of '89 and may of '90 according to known extract results.

Last buy of 2022 to celebrate the end of the year (and the holidays). Should still reach me ahead of Xmas…

As mentioned in the Carrera WoS thread, was at the Lakeside Boutique whilst my other half had her baby shower.

Afraid the 2 has become 3 and now become 4!

Will be looking to decide at the end of January, but it keeps changing most days (as you all know). All have pros & cons mind you.

Choices, choices, choices.
