No comparison between old and new. Glassbox are great watches but they have flaws. The crystal height and distortion bothers me. The thickness not so much but it’s a chunk compared to the original. You need more room for an automatic but maybe not this much. Shape of lugs is also an issue, not the length. They could design them a lot better by looking at the original. Biggest concern is rotor noise.

The original Carrera is perfect tbh, total balance. Not a single comment. This is Dieter Rams territory perfection.

I assumed that was aimed at you, since it was in response to your yellow comment. As we all know, you seem to have a thing for purple too.

I really need to see an original in the metal. But somehow ignorance is bliss.

I'm very happy with my Carrera glassbox, I don't notice its so called flaws 90% of the time. It's only when I stare at its profile and compare it to my other watches that I wish it was thinner. But it's a minor nit.

BB58 profile resembles a sub a lot
Yes and they're just about the same thickness when I put them side by side. Although the BB58's case shape is more slab sided compared to the Sub.

On the topic of "re-issues", this video contains many of my favorites from Heuer (ID Guy says "Awtahvia" like me, LOL), Omega, Zenith, Breitling and more.

I also agree with @Jim Dollares , that not all re-issues need to be exact copies. If the maker can improve upon certain design elements, great. I think the last Monza is a good example of a re-issue that I might like better than the original. However in other cases, such as the Zenith A384 or Omega Ed White, I'm glad these makers offer the ability to get a very faithful re-issue down to the movement itself.

Oh yeah the Monza is a perfect re-edition. I like that one better than the original too

The issue is that most Heuer classics are really good and can hardly be improved. Adding an automatic calibre to a ‘60s Autavia won’t improve it, only make it thicker. Zenith will faithfully re-issue but thow a few colour variations in the mix like that twoface piece everybody seems to love.

No it isn’t. The original is pretty good, not my favourite. The re-editon isn’t bad but it’s too big and looks more like a Camaro.

Might be more like a Camaro, doesn't change that I still like it more than the original

I'd like to see a re-issue of that weird oval Jacky Ickx thing. Sized up for modern tastes obviously at 55mm. That's nice and colourful.
