The heritage Autavia in particular just doesn't cut it for me when I look at the Rindt original. If the F1 case is used with the H02 to make an Autavia GMT, it means the watch will be on the larger side like the Fragment F1. That's too big for what I'd want.

“more bigger” seems to be the memo across industries. Bigger cars and bigger watches are in again. Does TH do reissues? It’s alway the modem interpretation of their originals, right?
Love to see reissues of that Autavia GMT. Have I mentioned dark-lord on this thread yet?

OK I'll bite, what color? Spill the beans the Jim. 😉
Yes, is there really? I haven't heard anything definite. Or have I forgotten about something? I'm confused now.

Please let it be yellow.
The Joker will be happy with this year's Monaco.

I’m a big fan of Heuer Heritage editions & notably sir @Hubert plus a few others here also. Nobody disputes that the original insipiration is good and probably better than the re-edition. The modern design re-interpretation may not be completely be the same as the OG with little tweaks here and there. But the aura, the charisma & the history is definitely present with the modern one. It has an instant story to tell and definitely a great conversation piece in any ocassion with all the modern-day qualities & functionalities 👍

I have nothing against vintage watches and I admit I love vintage designs. But I’d be hard pressed to buy vintage watches way way much older than me, let alone the difficulties where to have them serviced with original parts. Understanding the premiums of vintage watch prices is more complex than solving dynamical systems & differential equations 😕

TAG Heuer, by releasing Heuer Heritage Re-editions, gave fans like me a chance to own something that is already part of TAG Heuer’s long watch and motorsport history. I may sound like a “Heuer” fan as sir @Aquagraph mentioned but to me I’m completely TAG Heuer! The Heuer Heritage boom started with the CAW211A SMQ Monaco, the JH80 Carrera & the Autavia Cup. It might not drive sales volume for TAG Heuer but its presence is very much appreciated and enjoyed by passionate fans all over the world 😉

I don't agree at all that re-editions should be 100% copies of their originals. To me that feels like a fake replica, just happening to be manufactured by today's version of that same brand. Re-edition "replicas" 100% similar to the original also diminish the glory of the original in some weird way.

I think TAG and many other brands do the right thing when they do re-editions more like tributes. Modern but with heavy design inspiration from the originals. One can still easily see though that it aint the original.

Many complain about the thickness of the glassbox Carreras, I have never felt this way. The watch feels very neat and tiny, perfect size for my girl wrist 👍

When I had your watch here (briefly) it looked tiny to me. And it's not like I don't have watches that are smaller than that. It didn't strike me as massively thick either...

You should see the 39mm glassbox next to an original 1990s re-edition. It looks "chunky".

I dunno.... when I got it out of the box (reluctantly, but Jim goaded me) I was shocked, it looked absolutely tiny.... I didn't put it next to anything else, but it was just the impression I got.

Yes but the crystal is a big part of that chunkiness though, right? For sure the roaring H02 engine enforces a thicker caseback too but I find the overall design well balanced. And on wrist I've never felt that it is big or thick.

I guess it all depends on what you're used to. I'm only saying it looks chunky next to an originally-proportioned vintage Carrera. And when I say chunky, I mean more than just the thickness of the case/crystal. You definitely notice the milky ring caused by the crystal around the dial as well.

Well, just think how chunky it would seem if it was 3mm smaller...

I’m used to wearing the 42mm Autavia & 43mm Carrera. The 39mm glassbox Carrera H02 doesn’t all feel thick TBH.

You sir, are what Brobert would refer to as a 'real man'. I bet you hunt and kill your own meat and that you're house is built with lumber which you cut using nothing but a blunt pocket knife. Respect.
