I think there in lies part of the issue. People who like heritage (as you do) may find some of the modern touches questionable (i.e. tachy bezel treatment, pushers etc.). People who like modern may not care for the retro touches (i.e. date at 12, fauxtina etc.). So although the new glassboxes were meant to combine the best of modern & retro, the result may have missed the mark, being neither heritage enough or modern enough depending on one's view.
Having said that, I think it's still too early to say. Anthony's contact is just one data point, we really don't know how well these are selling from a global perspective.
I'm with you, @Mspeedster. I would have been quite excited for a heritage reverse panda glassbox to go along with the 60th panda.
Give me a silver 160 over these anyday. Or any of the glassboxes come to that, even the wonky Dato.
I agree but I also think the Dato is one of the best glassboxes. The panda still rules in my book. It’s not perfect but still really good and loads better than the current ones. I look forward to live shots of the Skipper. If any of the new glassbox models needs to impress it’s that one.
Loved my Dato from the start, then I got a little Carrera fatigue,* but as it ages it's moving up on my list. Will send a full report once it's 10 years old.
(edit: meaning I need an Autavia in my life)
Don't you own an Autavia 1163? I recall seeing your post on Instagram, was it not yours?
Yes, but it's basically flawless as it was kept in a safe before I bought it and now lives in a new safe since it joined the family. Plus I prefer 60s Autavia over 70s, but hard to resist the purchase at the time given the condition is essentially NOS. If anyone is interested let me know.

Fun video. Love how it says "not sponsored", a needed disclaimer given how George is brimming with enthusiasm and giddy about all the releases. Also love seeing the overwhelmingly positive comments left by viewers. 👍
