Watch Winder with CV5111 and WAR201E

Hi Guys,

Heres a strange one, so can anyone help, I have (luckily) two auto Tags, one is the WAR201E Carrera day date, the other is the CV5111 Panda face Heuer Heritage. The former is a Calibre 5 the latter a Calibre 17.

Both spend 5 days in a dual watch winder yet the Heuer one "looses" around 5 minutes a day whereas the Carrera doesn't miss a beat.

Now, if i take the Heuer one out of the winder and leave on side it keeps 100% perfect time to the second.

Question, is the winder over winding it or under winding perhaps, why would this only be one of them and should I change the way it winds? It is set as follows:

2mins clockwise
6min rest
2mins counter clockwise
repeat for 12 hours out of each 24

Any advice would be great, I was going to send back the panda face to tag under warranty as its only 4 months old but not having it in winder makes it function ok, the thing is its too expensive to wear daily at work so needs a winder.

What winder to you have? I have all my automatics on winders (including some Calibre 17s) and don't see this behavior. Most typically gain time (run "faster"), while two actually lose time (run "slower).

I wonder if that could be caused by the slanted rotation? All of mine do straight rotations (with the watch facing forward); seven of the winders are made by Wolf and three are "TAG Heuer" branded but made by Swiss Kubik.

I have a similar issue with a Carrera 1887 on a Wolf Viceroy winder. I have never noticed an issue when I wear the watch several days in a row.

I have not worn the watch today but took it to work and set it to my iphone and its keeping the time to the exact seconds, 100% perfect. When it spends a day or two in the winder it loses about two or three minutes

Possibly I guess but the other carrera works fine in the winder and keeps perfect time. perhaps try the winder to different setting?

Possibly. I have my winders set to rotate evenly on both directions based on timers. Maybe that may help?

Hi Hubert,

So to update, I had changed the winder to one direction for two minutes then rest for 6 only 12 hours per 24 hours. Before this I set the seconds and time to be exact. after a 24hour period it had not lost anything, in fact it was still to the second. and today the same.

I had emailed tag who said it should be wound in a winder clockwise and anticlockwise for 800-1000 winds per day.

I am going to try and replicate this as they are clearly the experts in this field!

Hey, so an update, I had changed the winder to be exactly has TH recommended, over the last two weeks the Heuer CV5111 has kept perfect time and the WAR201E had stopped around 8 times. On the days where I wore the WAR it stopped twice. Upon inspection (it has a exibithion back) if i slowly turn it round it gets stuck around 9 o'clock and won't move unless watch is flicked. So I think when in a the winder this seems to be the issue. Its only 4 months old so next week will send back to TH. bit disappointed for new 2k watch but I am sure they will resolve and will keep you posted.
