Thoughts on the new Supra?

If only they'd release a production version with that rear wing and a stick shift manual. It's amazing how just that wing makes the car look so much more like a "Supra".

However the Supra did not do well in MotorTrend's 2019 Best Driver's Car rankings, finishing in last place. 🙁

Motortrend have the right to their own opinion and views. It’s alright 😀 How about analyzing the car’s performance with the price? 😉 Fun per dollar? 😜 Add to that the WoW factor! & limitless aftermarket & customization support ::rimshot:: no other car in that list comes close 😝

Since I’m waiting (and saving up 😉) for the updated & facelift MkV GR Supra in a few years down 😁, I’ll probably have to settle for this white MkIV TRD 3000GT Supra first to inspire me 🥰

I drove a Supra when the local dealer had one on demo, asked about a manual version, the reply- ‘Oh nobody wants a manual box’ declined to order one, he seemed surprised?

I’m not sure if an MT will really come out down the line, I hope so. But an MT or AT is not the dealbreaker for me 😉

If you are familiar with Japan’s Super GT500 and GT300, they had the first race last weekend at Fuji Speedway, it was the GR Supra’s debut race also and out of 6 Supras in the Super GT500, Toyota Gazoo Racing finished occupying the Top1-5 positions, even the GT300 was won by a Supra. ::psy::::psy:: Truly amazing platform and solidly built by Chief Enginer Tetsuya Tada who also made the capable handling and 86 😉

I think more than the engine or suspension the well built chassis and balance are the clincher which reflects an extremely good handling car 👍 That makes for me an exciting and fun car for drive 😀

Hate to burst your bubble man but neither Tada nor anyone else at Toyota actually designed anything on the car...

I think there may have been some rumors about a manual for the 4-cylinder version, but not likely for any of the interesting trims.

Haha no bubble bursting here 😁 It’s all good, I understand this car has brought much divisiveness in the internet (in a similar vain like TAG Heuer 😜 LOL) but I own a Toyota GR 86 and this car just feels amazing! I’d like to give praise to the chief engineer who made it possible 👍 Even some of my Toyota friends are on the skeptic side on the GR Supra, but again it’s all good 😉 This would not come into fruition if Toyota didn’t collaborate with BMW just like if Toyota didn’t collaborate with Subaru for the 86/BRZ which is a well praised handling/balance car albeit the “power”.

I’ll just leave this two links from two highly regarded German auto groups, Auto Bild & Sport Auto. The Sun Rising at the Land of BMWs, Porsches & Mercs 😉

Oh I'm not arguing that the Supra is bad - it's maybe not for me, but by all accounts it's quite good, especially the updated 2021 model. It's just that it's a BMW through and through, essentially what could have been if BMW had any care at all for sportiness anymore

I’m actually excited with the driving experience 😉 So many good reviews & feedback, but still holding out for the later editions so Toyota (& BMW) have already sorted out all the gremlins, issues & recalls that come with a new platform. Imagine, +50 whp in 1 year update is awesome 😁 Haha Good things can come to those who know how to wait (patience) 👍

I do have to admit, Toyota makes a better BMW (from BMW parts) 😜

I think they just gave the true power number, as the "335hp" 2020 Supras were dynoing (and performing) at closer to the Z4's 382hp.

Underrated horsepower rating. BMW’s rating has always been like that or the “bhp” advertised is closer to the actual “whp” 😉

I’m not really after more HP to be honest. The driving dynamics is actually what is more fun for me 👍
