I am torn by what that means tbh.

Part of me reads that as it being an extremely popular piece and people love it. Another part of me reads it as loads of people having bought them and then changed their mind and sold them all.

Can think of loads of other comparisons on either side on the coin too, leaving me balanced in my opinion every time.

I have genuinely no vested interest either way, as I am a fan of most Monaco’s, albeit I don’t own one, yet at least.

I actually agree. I have spoken to a few people who have bought Monacos and found them difficult to wear. Can't say I ever got that impression from trying them on, but then I've never worn one properly with the strap properly done up or bracelet sized.
Not sure it's that surprising either since it's one of the 'icons', I imagine the list was Submariners, Speedmasters and every other 'icon' watch that I absolutely want nothing to do with. 🤣

I think a Monaco is an initiation piece for most watch enthusiasts just like the Moonwatch. It actually helps folks that the 211P is so easily available in the secondary market at the immense discounts.

That's also probably true, but I wonder how many of those 'first watch' Monacos end up getting sold when they realise the Monaco isn't perhaps the best choice for everyday?

^ My first major watch purchase was a Monaco, albeit a black dial Calibre 12 for the exact reason that the blue wouldn't have fit every day. Even then it is large and attention-grabbing; as an only watch it was a bit much I think but I also think there's absolutely a place in a varied lineup for a couple of bruisers like that for the days when you're feeling it!

Absolutely. I was more thinking of the 'one watch' guys who lust after a Monaco and then get one and realise it's not that easy to wear.

I was actually in that boat when I bought the C11 Monaco - it was meant to be the daily beater, along side a Casio which was for rougher use.

Clearly I fell down the rabbit hole after that first Monaco 🙈

Having owned the C11 Monaco after wanting one for many moons, & moving it after 8m.

Yes it’s an icon, yes it has wrist presence (nothing in terms of Panerai etc), but I felt after a day or two, I preferred wearing my slightly smaller better fitting BB58.

Agree it’s not a 1 watch only watch, although I expect for some it is, but they probably don’t wear it daily.

Yes it’s chunky, and did keep knocking my on doors. As apart of a collection great especially on the secondary market, RRP are crazy especially for the Selitta/ modular movement.

But like Panerai, nothing will scratch that itch if that’s what you want.

Oddly don’t miss mine, for someone who only wants a small 3 piece collection of semi luxury watches, it’s not the route I want to go now. Tried it, glad I did, do I miss it, only sometimes when it looks great in pics.

The only reason I don't have a CAW211P is that I'm pretty sure somewhere down the line I'll just end up with an 1133b. Started out preferring the G model but just can't ignore the icon.
Now that I'm starting to see the Titan dip towards $5k though... 😵‍💫

Ooh, heavy 'discount Porsche Design' vibes from this Mido. Plus, Mido is part of the Swatch Group which includes ETA/Valjoux, so this 7750 is gonna be as legit as it gets 😂

25% off a new BB ceramic is a decent, that’s about what I paid for mine second hand

If you believe WF, the Monaco Titan is not a limited edition ...
