Looking at them both I am drawn to neither, but I like the standard lugs of the exchange watch
I don’t like the standard lugs of the exchange watch going over the bezel… it looks odd to me

I prefer the Modular lugs, in line with the case and not “stepping” on the bezel

Means you can play with straps outside of TAG's pre-ordained options
No, both watches have specific strap design, so no aftermarket strap will fit them properly, unless you like a big gap between strap and lugs/case. Shape of the strap is very special to fill that gap.
This is the exchange watch:

These are both watches side by side. Both with specific strap design, with only one (black rubber strap) available for the exchange watch, while many different straps and bracelets (28) were made for the Modular 45

Thanks Jim! 😀 👍

I love this concept and the huge variety of combinations and fun it offers, so I did a lot of digging and research when I decided to collect all the specific straps that TAG Heuer made for the Modular 45. @J.C also managed to collect them all and even started collecting different bezels (I didn't want to go there 🤦 😁), and in our forum we have other lovers of the Modular concept, as you can see in this thread:

I see 4.... LOL!

Actually think these are nice & prefer the matching hands than those on the 160th panda.
Nice oyster bracelet and I’d be tempted

Yes, they are very nice. I almost bought one but held out in hope of a panda. The thing is, the Ice King can be had for about £1k less and I just don't think a green dial is enough to justify the extra spend.

An oyster bracelet? 😲 Really? 👎

I’m not good at Photoshop, but I really dunno…

not a fan of beads of rice style or the current uncle Seiko one found the rounds.

Personally I find the oyster style very comfortable & also attractive.

The Speedy 5 link is nice & is jubilee style (guess I’d be happy with those styles).

The Panda is the best looking. I just find the faux lumed hands ruin the watch IMHO, if they were different & a nice bracelet available I’d be interested in one or the ice king.

The last CAW211P that I really considered buying used P2P here in France was about 3.2k EUR (IIRC) and lingered on for a bit before being snapped up. That was 2 years ago…

I’ve always considered that tech- and finishing-wise a used CAW211x Monaco shouldn’t really cost more than 4k. So I’m curious to see where that market is headed now that the mini-bubble is past us…

I think list price for a brand new one should be around 4k, used I would consider one for around 3k

Mine went for £3,550, roughly 11m old. Massive drop from the £5,700ish I paid. But guess that the 2nd value of TH

Yeah - I felt for you. Guess that stung a bit… 😵‍💫

Then again, it can happen at any prize point: I had paid list prize for an L.E. retro diver with a COSC-Sellita only to see it sold off at minus 50% a couple months later. Learned my 1000,- lesson (I hope)… 😁

I don't think I've seen a single one pre-owned... must be selling like hot cakes.
