Think we've found market price on Monaco LEs...

Geez 😲 By chance I just saw how many of these are listed on C24 - including new & unused ones…

Clearly these either didn’t sell overly well or some scalpers are in for a LOT of pain.

Maybe it's a good thing the LE fad is over, would be super embarrassing to not be able to sell 500 of a watch because all the scalpers got cold feet.

Probably safe to assume that this 'special edition' or 'limited production' nonsense is just a sneaky sales tactic and that plenty will be available used or through grey market. If more people realise this, the initial hype and fomo could hopefully cool down and keep scalpers away when they realise that 'limited production' has no positive impact on secondary value.

Could be. I have seen surprisingly few Skippers on the secondary market though. Don't know if that's because they're still hard to get though, I haven't been in the Boutique in a while

in Japan is going to take place a 10% price up for TH from March 5th. Same applies for Zenith, Omega (gold models), Maurice Lacroix, Blancpain and Grand Seiko. Therefore i jumped and purchased the Skipper 😀

I’m going to ask my boss to index my salary against Swiss watch pricing.

I predict luxury will stay luxury and will always sell.
Once these brands devalue themselves they’ll never make it back to that luxury status.
Regardless of economic of the land, people will still want to aspire & for many that’s luxury.

You're probably right and it will be interesting to see what the market looks like in 10 years, after continued increases of 10-30% per year.

Will watches make a come back as retro tech for gen z? I’m always a bit surprised, but I do see young people wearing watches. Probably more than gen x/millennials who mostly wear Apple Watches or garmins.

Well probably all have neural implants giving us permanent heads up display by then. (Siri, set a reminder to revisit this post in 10 years…what’s that? Everything will be the same, except my knees will hurt more?)

Well it seems insane but due to inflation wages in manufacturing are increasing. Ofc you try to get saving every year, but if raw materials/utilities and wages are going up then automatically production costs will go up. Nobody will sacrifice their profits…i moved to Japan in 2019 and i know how shocked i was how cheap watches are. In 4 years the price for my Reverso went up by 50%

Somebody should tell my boss that wages are going up...
I kinda remember those days, but it will still an arm wrestle to get a rise.
