Thanks @Hubert! Looking forward to seeing pics of all your upcoming purchases!
As long as they don't do another Gulf, I think I'm good with this one eyed evil panda for the year.

You're good til 2022. 👍

You got your first choice number! That’s super cool! Yeesh, almost makes me feel like we need to get you back into the #5 Blue Dreamer... almost. 😉
Haha. I actually thought about it.

Ha that’s the professional way 😉
I might be Belgian Jim but my ruler is indeed German. Just measured again and indeed 38mm. I even held it over the BB and noticed the difference. I just noticed that the Carrera case sides aren’tstraight. The case is a bit wider at the caseback than at the front. I tried to capture it in this photo.

The caseback might be 39mm but the front isn’t.
I was curious, I just measured mine using an old school ruler. Your right, the back of the Dato is 39mm but the front is just a tad under 38mm. The Carrera lugs also tapper in more compared to the BB58. Even though the Carrera is thicker, it's not chunky at all. The case is about the same thickness as the BB58. It's the glassbox crystal that's the 2mm difference, which isn't that noticeable as it's clear.

So the overall affect is a smaller wearing watch, yet it doesn't wear as small as I recall the Telemeter did. 👍

A few more observations, as I'm new to the glassbox Carrera and H02 movement.

Now that I finally own one of these, I can truly say the glassbox crystal doesn't bother me at all. Maybe because they made the chapter ring black, but the distortion isn't even on my radar. In fact, I really like the crystal on this watch, I feel it adds to the overall beauty.

Yes the rotor is noisy. However, my old Breitling Navitimer ref. A23322 makes a similar noise, so I'm used to it. I kind of like the noise actually, let's me know the movement is being wound.

The lack of a running seconds hand is both a negative and a positive. I'm frustrated that I can't tell how accurate the H02 movement is, but OTOH I don't have to worry about how accurate it is either.

I'm not used to the date wheel starting to slowly move from about 11 pm until midnight. At first I thought the date alignment was going off, but it was back to being centered again once the date changed at midnight. This must be another characteristic of the H02.

I like those little differences between watches. My Seiko SKX7 is the worst. The date starts to move more than an hour before midnight and will only set fully well after 1 pm. So if I want to wear it and it stopped somewhere between 10.30pm and 1 am the previous time then I can't change the date the first couple of hours as I don't want to damage the complication. I usually don't bother setting the time then either. Also always set the time a minute early. The minute hand will move at least a minute forward when you push in the crown. I can imagine to most this would be annoying but I like it, it's part of the SKX7 charm.
There are also lots of differences in chrono operation between various movements. With the H02 I believe the minutes and hours hands move only every revolution, straight from 1 to 2 for example. On many others these hands will be constantly in motion when the chrono is in operation, moving very slowly from one marker to the next.

After watching the date wheel last night, I realize it actually begins to move sometime past 10 pm. Even earlier than I noticed before. This and the fact that the watch is really a Dato 30, not a 45, are my two tiny nits about the watch. I guess there was no easy way for the H02 to be adapted for 45 increments? Seems odd to call it the Dato 45, when it's really a 30. Oh and I agree a rally strap would've been much better suited but I'm enjoying the croc nevertheless. Easy enough to change that one.

Doesn't the dato 45 refer to the position of the date window on the dial, i.e. at the 45 min mark?

"Dato 45," nicknamed for the date complication and maximum 45 minute timing capability, featured the date aperture at 12 o'clock"

according to Hodinkee

Definitely for the 45 minute counter, defining feature of the two subdial 3647 Carreras. These operated with the Valjoux 92 whereas the Dato has a Landeron under the ‘bonnet’. The 45 name for the Hodinkee bugged me from early on but no deal breaker 😉

That's what I thought.

I believe the first Carrera 3147's with the date at 12 o'clock were also nicknamed Dato 45 for the minute track. But I'm going to think of it now like @imagwai, so it doesn't bug me so much. LOL. 😜

Looks good but me personally would probably prefer it without the contrast stitching 👍
