I absolutely love these glassbox Carreras. But one shouldn't forget that you can pick up an original 1960s Carrera for similar money!
All this Carrera Dato talk has me looking.馃摉 I found something with a lil more vintage originality for some few bucks more. My absolute passion, aside from Heuer, is the Carrera. The Best watch created! Only thing that stops me is the diminutive size, for me anyways. It's why I have modern tributes at 41mm. But they just don't hit the right buttons with me as the classics do. Although they are cherished and will stay with me forever. Offered to me is a Heuer Carrera 3647NT 36mm with a price slightly over $10k. Steep I know (think) as it's "only" a two register. And I do like the Hodinkee Dato!

Might not be steep depending on condition. The NT is more valuable than the N. A good one goes for that kind of money. A really good one for considerably more.

Hi everyone and Tah Dah!! I got my hodinkee heur dato 45!! 馃グ

Managed to copped it from a local seller which was always my preferred choice, as I don't face any shipping issues, check the watch on the spot and cod. 馃槑

Thanks everyone for your kind help in searching and providing suitable sale links to me...was in discussion with the overseas seller ($8,300) when I spotted the local seller's ad and bam! Done deal in 24 hours lol

When I first saw the actual watch, I had nothing but smiles like a lil giggly boy buying his fav candy from the candy store. Got it at a considerably reasonable price too imho and I'm now just so happy to be part of the 250 owners!

Cheers!! 馃嵖馃嵖馃嵖

No contest for me....less is more sometimes. (Although $10k is top money for one!)

Ah that must be the "alternative" strap they ship it on since they can't export alligator bands from the US. Can you do a bit of show & tell on it? I'm curious!

I actually like that "alternative" strap better than the alligator... especially since the alligator already comes with the Fragment (though I believe it is not on a deployant clasp). Wish we had the option of choosing here in the states.

I definitely think it matches a bit better than the alligator, though it doesn't look as nice. I'll echo what everyone's been saying since the release of the 160 and say it should have been a racing strap, obv

Sure! Here are some more pics of the alternate strap provided. On top of that, hodinkee will actually gift an additional racing strap....I suppose it is to make up for not having the alligator strap?

I personally prefer both the alternate and racing straps since I have the fragment in alligator already....these gives me more alternatives to play around with my strap options.

I did check with my local tag store to see if I can purchase the specific alligator one catered for the 160 years series, and yes it is available for approx. usd 300. So that could also be something to consider if I wanna have it as well.

It's obvious from your posts and pics that you are super excited about this watch. I really like seeing that such a watch has gone to a true enthusiast.

Interesting... looks like the "alternative" is some sort of run of the mill TAG strap - doesn't have the Heuer badge like all of the other Glassbox strap offerings.

As for the Hodinkee strap, yeah they'll usually toss in a value-add like that, nice to see they've done so here at least for those who haven't gotten the gator strap.

Congrats man! Those alternative straps match the watch way better than the croc! 馃憤
