Not sure if this is well known but heard this evening that Tag Heuer have sorted a deal with Aston Martin for their road and race cars. With the race cars comes the Gulf racing tie up evidenced by the release of the Monaco Gulf in the US.

Could be some more Gulf inspired stuff on the way!

I'm (slowly) writing up an article on the Gulf Monaco, which will feature some fantastic photos from a well known moderator here (*cough @Hubert *cough). As part of this I asked TAG Heuer what the story was with the availability of the watch: in short it will be on worldwide release, but not before 1 March 2018. Until then, it's US only

Looking forward to reading this, despite my reservations about the choice of colours used.

Looking forward to it. Yeah I heard the same timescale for global release.

The more I've thought about it the more I wish the red hands and indices had not been red.....it would have been perfect if they'd basically kept it like the previous Tag Heuer version, just with Heuer on the dial. Real shame I think.

Still, I can't wait for more Gulf racing Heuer branded products from them which I hope will come from the partnership.

They already share a common partner with Red Bull F1. Now it appears they are coming together in the WEC and for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. 2018 Aston racing merch has the TAG logo in plain site.

Very interesting. Back in the mid-2000s, there were discussions of a partnership between TAG Heuer and Aston Martin- I think it was based around the Gulf sponsored endurance racing programme. They very first prototype of the Monaco 24 was called the Monaco DBR9 and of course we had the limited run TAG Heuer Vanquish

Here's the Aston Martin DBR9 in Gulf livery from 2008

Such a nice livery.

Nice... JLC (one of my favorite watch brands) used to be tight with Aston too. I wonder if we’ll see TAG/AM collaborations like they did with JLC just a couple of years ago:

Agreed, the Amvox range were cool. My favourite is the Amvox 3 in rose gold:

Should we consolidate threads?

Good catch!
I’m not sure about Gulf - Aston Martin joint editions since they are no longer a sponsor of AMR. Total appears to be the current official oil company of the program.

I can’t see there be any joint editions I’d expect. The two tie ups are separate but obviously have a history and overlap, and the two partnerships just coincided time wise.

P.S. I wish they would have all tied in together because a couple of my mates own a Aston Martin GT4 in Gulf Racing and it still remains one of my favourite looking cars on any grid.
