·I really like the OEM Tag Heuer deployant. Yes, it sticks out more than a standard buckle but it's so easy to use, looks special and is of good quality.
They are about the AUD150 mark for stainless steel models. FC5049 is the product code for a Heuer branded, stainless steel clasp that accepts a 3mm thick strap.
Deployment or strap with buckle you can always flip it round so the logo can show whichever way you want.
Alternative is the FC5012 that is for 16mm end strap.
When I got mine I bought it from Italy as that was the best price I found online. The buckles online were very similar on cost to what the local Tag store charges....so I bought one online, but then others from the AD.
I should have said that the strap need to be 18mm wide for this clasp.
Older clasps used on the re-editions are generally 16mm wide.
Thanks for the update! I was thinking of getting the strap from Clockwork Synergy (https://www.clockworksynergy.com/shop/oem/tag-heuer/black-perforated-rally-bands-tag-heuer/) and since the lug width is 21mm on the Autavia I assume it will be a bit tricky maybe. I don't know if these tapers down and the end/buckle so that's worth checking up before I do anything stupid...
You would be sensible to check, although my take is that if you order a 21mm wide strap, it will taper to 18mm at the clasp. Note that Clockwork Synergy's straps are 2mm thick at the clasp, so the FC5049, I referenced above, is not the correct clasp since this is designed to accept a 3mm thick strap. There is an FC5042, which is Heuer branded, but I haven't been able to confirm the relevant strap thickness for this clasp.
