Question is what happens if you have an issue with the movement in a couple of years, if the tech has been abandonded by Tag

Ya. That's a concern for me. However, my understanding is that the movement is just a Caliber 5 with the carbon hairspring. I guess if it goes wonky after the warranty expires and Tag won't do anything to help me, I could just replace the escapement with a normal basic escapement. Assuming I received a good one and the Isograph escapement keeps performing, a regular service shouldn't affect the escapement. I should be able to service the movement and keep the escapement.

Yes. My AD said Tag Heuer would buy back any models already sold to customers. I really want to hang on to mine. It has been performing well. I hope it stays that way.
If they do a recall and you refuse to comply, they may not service it if it fails in the future.

True, but this is a generic movement. Any decent watch repair person should be able to service it. If it's out of warranty, I probably won't be having it serviced by Tag anyway.

Hopefully all of you who bought one will get an acceptable replacement or resolution.

You listed yours for sale on this forum though and bumped a few times.

I actually purchased two, one with the blue dial and one with the black dial. I was planning on selling the black dial prior to today. Now that I realize you can't get these anymore, I'm gonna hold on to both.

To be honest, I Love TAG watches. I would actually prefer a suitable replacement versus a refund. I will just spend the refund on a watch anyway!

How long did they test this before bringing it to market? Seems like it was a rush job. Okay get the Nanograph out there and make your point but I never understood the rush to get it out in the mass market, especially since it compromised one of the main incentives to buy a Nanograph!

If I understand correctly there is no difference between the 'nanograph' and 'isograph'? There's a huge spread between the 02T nanograph and the Autavia isograph so I don't think the one will influence the sales of the other very much.
Since the 02T is still available, perhaps the tourbillon makes the carbon hairspring work perfectly. Maybe they only noticed later that without tourbillon the hairspring is flawed over a longer period of use. All Guesswork, can't wait for David's interview.

So if TAG put a tourbillon in an Aquaracer for £4k it wouldn't affect the sales of the Carrera?

My thoughts exactly but at the same time, do we know how long this technology has been developed and tested internally before brought into the tourbillion and Autavia? Maybe this has been mentioned in some article somewhere...

Not really fair comparison though, I think most people that would consider the Autavia isograph would not have the funds to purchase the Nanograph

That would be silly but yes it most probably would have an affect as they would be in the same price bracket.

Sorry, you misunderstand... I was not clear enough. If you put a tourbillon in a Aquaracer for £4k, it will affect sales of the £12k Carrera. No?

No, to me the selling point of the Nanograph is the hairspring, otherwise it's an overpriced Carrera tourbillon with some yellow on it. By putting the hairspring in the Autavia they undermined it's selling point. I can't understand why they didn't maintain this angle for six months at least. Sure, Autavia customers can't necessarily afford a Nanograph, but people spending £26k want something they can brag about, something they know everyone else doesn't have.

Hey check out my £26k Nanograph with it's silicon hairspring.

Oh you mean like the one in my Autavia I just bought for £3k

Ah yes but the key point is the tourbillon, right? That's why you're forking out +20k. Unlike the carbon hairspring, the tourbillon is the haute horlogerie bragging coin. Tag Heuer's ambition with the carbon hairspring is to eventually replace the bought in alloy hairsprings, so a much more democratic ambition than the tourbillon. But yes maybe they should have waited a bit longer for the novelty of the 02T carbon to wear off before introducing these hairsprings in the Autavia. I suppose they needed that extra boost. It's the only reason I would buy that Autavia, in bronze, which now is off the table...

All I'm saying is the Tete de Vipere tourbillon is only £16,500 so you are paying nearly £10k for the silicon hairspring... (okay you're not but you get what I'm saying).

Fair enough and I misunderstood your first post
