Great looking car congratulation.....
My choice of modern 997
Classics......930, 964 Turbo or 993 Turbo, the 993 is probably the more drivable of the calssics...

964 or 993 RS for me please. I fell in love with a silver 993 RS at the ring about 15years ago, the guy had owned it from new and it was stunning.

Saw this 964 the other day, there’s something about the purity of the 964 lines that’s lost with the 993:

I’m completely envious 🥰

I’ve always dreamed of a Porsche because it is the only car maker still associated with TAG Heuer 👍

Congrats Adam and welcome to the world of Porsche.

The 997 bridges the gap between old school issues and overly techie bloated cars of the past decade. I may be a little biased, but the 997 is still a very attractive car today and in your case the turbo still very relevant even today power wise.

I always wanted to add a 964 to the garage, but other cars have got in the way now.

I bought a Porsche watch to match too;

Those 997.1 GT3s at first looked a bit less interesting in period compared to the 996.2 GT3 with its huge wing, but I think they have aged better than any other GT3 👍

Agreed, especially as the aerokit was offered for every other 911 model, so for the uneducated the GT3 was just another regular 911.

Thanks! Already burst its coolant pipes lol. Having them pinned this week

I think it's just marking its territory and reminding me that I'm not driving a Honda anymore lmao

This seems to be a thing with any performance car you buy!

My 997 Carrera S has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. The only repair item needed during 15 years of ownership was a water pump replacement.

Yeah this one is a 2007 model with only 33k miles on it. So a lot of the parts are probably original and though they may not be worn, they are still old. I expected more maintenance than the Honda obviously but it is a bit disappointing to have to pull off the road in a cloud of steam on the first weekend drive

That’s exactly it, everything is old and probably hasn’t been used much, so when you start doing the new owner enjoying his car thing, stuff will break.

If it makes you feel any better, my 996 had a heater core, two suspension arms and two exhaust flexis in the first week I owned it.

26k miles in my GT3 and really should get those hoses pinned, especially as I still track it. I should really get it done, as know only too well the issues with coolant after a 360 spin at 120mph on someone else’s coolant 6 months back.

“it was at this moment he knew, he’d f€>¥$#d up”

You really should, if not for everyone else on a track but because having to pull off the side of the parkway in a cloud of steam was not fun!

Couple other small issues to chase besides this too, which confirms my concerns about low-mileage cars. But this example was too nice to pass up.

These cars look soooo much better without a front reg plate on them.

I’m happy with a small plate….when I eventually move back to Europe I’ll be back to a regular sized horror

I actually believe they are pinned but had it checked. I do quite a lot of laps on track, but we don’t do hours of serious track work and definitely not weekends like you guys in the states do.

It will see less track time now as the Atom will do most of that.

Small as I can get away with here, I did have a plate with motorcycle font on but Mr Policeman objected so it had to come off approx 80% of this size. Excuse the dirty car but it’s not weather for outside work.

I’m really tempted to take the front plate off mine. The fine for no plate is less than the fine for 57 in a 50 too

I’m surprised how many performance cars I see on car meet videos with front plates missing. I’ve lived outside the UK for many years now so no idea when that became a thing?

Here in the US, front plate laws vary by state. In NY we are required, but in neighboring Pennsylvania they are not and so I have heard that you can get away with it. You may be ticketed by an overzealous parking agent though. I'm going to see how long I can hold out, but our plates in the US also do not fit on the front of cars so I'll probably have to buy some sort of adapter that I won't have to drill into the bumper for.

I actually believe they are pinned but had it checked.

I just paid $7k US for it 🙁 Ramen for me this winter.
