It would look even better if you put the S/el leather strap with just one link on top of each side 馃槈

Indeed. I don鈥檛 think Senna ever wore one with a bracelet and if he did, it must have been on very rare occasions.

Yes, he wore the leather strap much more frequently (and while driving the F1 car), but he also wore the bracelet 馃憤

Maybe he chose the leather strap to drive, because it was lighter than the bracelet... and in Formula 1 every gram of weight is taken into account! 馃槈

Are we sure that's the same watch? Wouldn't the bracelet have been two tone?

I thought I might of seen a pic of him wearing a bracelet but wasn't sure. Thanks for the reminder pic! Almost most all the S/el pics of him are with either the creme dial ana-digi or dark grey dial ana-digi on leather straps, even when not racing. So I always felt that he just preferred leather. But you might be right about the weight saving aspect too.

It's not the same watch. If you look closely, you'll see the bezel on that one is silver. Would love to see the dial to know which version of the S/el that was.

An interesting and enjoyable read. However, your premise is that TH would be making the watch today using a case and components that are easily sourced or modified from TH's existing line up.

My premise would be different, as follows: TH re-issues the entire S/el line when the time is right in the future (presumably when all things '80s are hip again), just as they brought back the Carrera and Monaco long after the original Heuer models were out of production.

Under this scenario, a new age S/el case could be created for the entire line, along with an updated bracelet and strap options. So creating a special Senna model for this new S/el line up wouldn't be the conundrum you describe in your article.

Ah, okay, well I hope you are right!

My dear S/el CG1110 has arrived today from the AD service, with new battery, bezel, crown, and gaskets... and it looks like new again! 馃榾

Looks great, hopefully mine will be back soon - with the correct dial this time! Loving that strap as well, wouldn't mind one of those to switch with my bracelet....

I wouldn't mind buying a brown leather strap to go with my blue dial s/el but it's quite a costly exercise because I need to buy the strap, deployant and the end links.

Yes, that's what I thought... 馃檨. Probably cost more than I paid for the watch!
