Ownership Experiences- 2017 TAG Heuer Connected E2 Modular 45

Does anyone know when this is expected to be released? They had indicated late summer when they released the 45, but haven't heard anything since.

Why is everything so hard on this watch? Ive had it for 3 months and after moving from Apple I have to say this is terrible. I'm a life long Tag fan, but this product is really poor. Am I the only one accepting this?
Nope, you're not alone. Mine went back to the shop as I couldn't be bothered with the constant faffing around with connections, firmware etc. I bought a garmin Fenix 5 as a replacement and it went back also as I couldn't get it to even connect to my phone - bluetooth issues again.

I'm seriously thinking of ditching this Android experiment and going back to Apple - stuff just 'works'!

Thats disappointing, I had a Fenix 3 and it worked perfectly. Unfortunately it went back because it was ridiculously large (51mm).

Hi everyone, a quick update on the status with Intel. As noted a few pages back (page 54), Intel has wound down its wearables working group and the Curie chip which is fitted in the Connected. TAG Heuer has confirmed to me that they will provide Connected Modular customers with major Android Wear updates for at least 2 years from the March 2017 launch.

Let's see what the future holds- I see the speculation about Qualcomm, which provides chips for other LVMH brands, but no news yet on what TAG Heuer's future plans will be in this space, other than the success of the Connected will assure its future in some form.

I suppose this also explains why we haven't seen the smaller ladies version and the larger size that were mentioned during the Modular 45 launch, which were targeted for September.

SW support for 2 years is really good news. Let us hope it really lasts for 2 years and will get us one more major update of Android Wear. 😀
SW support for only 2 years on a £1500 watch? I'm glad I took mine back!!

On the one hand, that is the same as the warranty on a TAG Automatic or Quartz watch. On the other hand, my Automatic or Quartz TAG will continue to provide all its original, abliet very limited, functionality for many years after the warranty, whereas without software support the Connected could be completely useless.

This is why they have the trade in program for the original connected and the mechanical movements for the modular.

Just a quick question. Many moons and many pages back I was trying to improve my battery life. This was achieved by turning on the ADB debugging. It worked a treat and significantly increased my battery life. I was under the impression this was a temporary measure. Do I still need to keep this activated to maintain my current battery life or can I now turn it off?

I saw a post earlier saying there was a link to enable the download of the new Kingsman watch face but I can't find it anywhere. Could someone post the link or PM it to me please?

Like others, I’m having BT problems with my iPhone since the iOS 11 update. The watch seems to disconnect from the phone while charging overnight, and requires a restart to reconnect in the morning. A first world problem, I know, but given the price of the watch, I expect something a bit more seamless. Any ideas?

An update: there seems to be no pattern to the dropouts, and no consistent way of fixing them. I have done factory resets, forget device, etc, etc, and it still happens. Sometimes, turning BT on and off on the phone and/or the watch will work, sometimes not. It means I can’t rely on the watch for notifications, which is one of the reasons I have it - so it is basically useless. It seems obvious that this is an iOS 11 issue, but there seems to be no fix in sight. If this continues, I will be asking for my money back. It would be nice to hear from someone at TAG about what is being done to fix this fundamental problem.

Another update - it seems that there have been continual BT problems between TAG and iPhone 7’s for over a year now -

The official Kingsman face is exclusive to the Kingsman special edition. What we were talking about is a fan made face for WatchMaker.

That's a strong recommendation, but the issue seems to be characterisic across all android watches, they just don't seem to offer the stable UX I would expect from a £500 watch, let alone a £1500 watch. Have you tried any other smart watches? Samsung and Garmin fenix both offer batteries that last around a week, and apple seem to have got the connectivity dialed.



That's a really impressive statement given your collection! I've always wondered how you manage to wear the Connected over a JH80 or Monaco.

My main issues with Android Wear have always been battery related -- certainly the case with my Moto360v1 (which were fixed, also eventually had a cracked case, which Motorola replaced no charge) later Moto360 v1, Zenwatch 2 and Nixon Mission were fine in this respect.

Android Wear itself has never been too much of an issue -- there were certainly some overall structural issues I didn't enjoy (lots of swiping in AW 1.0) that have improved over time -- but I've never had any issues with basic notifications, using voice to control things, timers, alarms, etc., which I used constantly every day.

Before smartwatches I wore a selection of old 1960s Omegas, and newer Seiko. Before Android Wear I had the original Pebble, and Pebble steel (and before that a really old Fossil that would sync with Palm Pilot over USB!)-- the Pebble for sure would have a battery last for almost a week, but both of them developed hardware issues (tearing of display, which let me to move over to AW)

I don't have a problem dropping my watch on a charger overnight.

As I'm on Android for my phone, I would not have the choice of using an Apple Watch with my device -- but people I know who have those have liked them. I didn't find the Samsung Tizen stuff to be interesting (plus a similar thing to the Apple Watch, at the mercy of one manufacturer) , but I know people like them, and I like the concept of Android Wear giving me many hardware choices.

I will tell you that one reason I bought into AW on Tag, in addition to quality was to vote to support the swiss watch -- I don't want Apple to kill the Swiss Watch industry, too much heritage, and knowledge, and perhaps some arrogance from Apple (the 10k+ original Apple watch was clearly a shot across the bow for the Swiss, and they responded)

There are ALWAYS bugs and problems with software -- and this category of hardware is hardly 3 or 4 years old, lots happening, and there will be some rough edges always (note the recent problems with the new Apple Watch 3 -- which tanked Apple stock!) ... and I would expect more problems on the Apple side, where the OS manufacturer has minimal interest in supporting an outside platform.

Just really like my Tag Connected-- It is my daily driver (now regularly runs until beyond 1am and beyond since the software update) I have added a few straps since March, and also picked up a slightly used Cal 5 mechanical module, which is quite good when the battery is low!... and will outlive the Connected, I'm sure.

The earlier Android Wear and Pebble watches were certainly functional -- but the Tag is a 'real watch' -- it is well made, looks good, feels good, just an overall cool experience.
