I'm getting 5% battery drain per hour with display always on and wifi on with notifications coming through. Think that's pretty good

Same here and that's using Watchmaker faces. The Grand Carrera is an ideal face for this.

Just had a reply from customer services, he goes on to outline ios functions

Thank you for your enquiry and please accept my sincere apologies for the difficulties your are experiencing.

The charging plug is fully compatible and would not affect the charging of your watch. However, you watch may require updating.
Please can I ask you to carry out the following process in order update your watch to the latest build. Please navigate to Settings> System>About>Build number which should read N7G47I. If not, under the About section please select system update. In order to receive the update please ensure prior to updating that your watch is on the charging cradle and is charged above 80%. Also please ensure that the watch is paired with your phone and the watch is connected to Wifi. Once the above has been completed you will notice an improvement in the battery life of your watch.

Please note an iOS version of the Connected app will be available soon.

Currently with your iOS iPhone (running 9+), you’ll be able to enjoy:

Google Play Store™ access
You’ll have access to the Google Play Store directly from the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45mm and the TAG Heuer Connected 46mm, so you can install new apps and watch faces using your watch. To access the Google Play Store, log in and register with your Google account.

Wi-Fi
iOS users will have access to the watch’s Wi-Fi function. You can get social media, email and app notifications direct to your phone, and you can search online too.

Apps
As an iOS user, you can enjoy a range of pre-loaded apps: Fit, Messenger, Hangouts, Android Pay, Google Play Music, Torch, Alarm, Timer and Stopwatch. You can download more through the Google Play Store.

Notifications
You can view notifications on your watch. Also you can receive email notifications but only from your Gmail account.

Voice commands
iOS users can use voice command for the following apps:

  • Calculator
  • Voicemail
  • Dictionary
  • Images
  • Knowledge card
  • Calendar
  • Weather
  • Web snippets
  • Step count
  • Alarm
  • Timer
  • Stopwatch
iOS users can also use voice commands to:

  • Open an app
  • Start a bike ride, run or workout
  • Take a note
Currently, iOS users aren’t able to pair their watch with Bluetooth devices or use the Find my phone function on their watch.

Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards

Craig

I get notifications from all my non gmail email accounts. You just need notifications on the iPhone switched on and alerts set to banners.

My experience with other android wear watches (Moto360 v1 and v2 specifically) is that right after an update, battery life was degraded for at least a single charge cycle, but then improved.

I'm consistently getting about 11-13 hours, averaging between 7% and 9% drain per hour just running mostly idle (but wearing the watch 'always on' everything else turned on. Right now I'm at 50% 6hrs in)

Mine was 5% an hour upto a point and then got worse quickly. I did receive a lot of notifications during the afternoon but didn't seem right. I charged for 15 mins which took it to 40% and will last until I charge fully overnight.

What are you guys doing to your watches 😉

Mine is on 52% after 12 hours at work, all functions on average usage. Also haven't had the update - still saying System up to date.

I'm 3 full charge cycles in and I'm now getting around 28 hours with lowish usage. Notifications on, wifi and Bluetooth on, occasional checking for updates. I'm on iOS.

Heh heh ... good question!

I run with everything on, gps, always on screen, etc.

... probably get 5-10 notifications per hour for various things, meetings, calls, text messages, app notifications ... I use the assistant a lot (very cool from the new assistant to be able to set my nest thermostat) plus I will launch the timer from assistant a lot (by the way, a cosmetic bug there -- if you say 'set a timer for xx minutes' you'll get a message that says 'I'm sorry I can't do that' ... however, the timer launches as expected anyway!)... I get notifications from google maps while driving, etc.

This is exactly the same kind of usage that I have done with other android wear smartwatches in the past (most recently the Nixon Mission... and that gets through the whole day until late in the evening with > 40% almost always).

... and continuing to get roughly 12hrs of battery life ...

This has to be a bug ... I can't believe that the hardware design between Tag, Google and Intel could be that flawed ... great hopes for this SW update!

On the basis all their video promotions are '24 Hours with the Connected 45' I'd say it HAS to be a bug...unless they casually ignore the 2-3 hours you'd need to be charging it at some point during the day!!

Surprised TAG haven't got this right, such a great company and this is not up to the standards any of us would expect.

On another note, anyone here think the strap is a little long? My wrists aren't that big admittedly, and I have the brown leather strap and it's pulled as tightly on the clasp as I can get it. There must be some customers out there with big arms!!

Yes, mine has the blaxk rubber strap and it is definitely longer than on V1. Its OK for my arms, but not the optimum. I would wish that there werw shorter straps as accessoires .

I trimmed my rubber strap-- on the tag site, there's a template, they will trim for you if you send a measurement when ordering.
