I've tried this watch on twice now at two different ADs. It is no doubt a very handsome watch, but its size keeps it from being a home run. It's not so much the thickness, but the 50mm lug to lug that's giving me second thoughts. This guy has slimmer wrists than I do and the watch looks pretty good on him in the video. But on me, the watch takes up practically my entire wrist width, making it just borderline acceptable. It's odd because I have another watch that's 41mm and 51mm lug to lug that wears smaller compared to the Tudor Chrono. Can't figure out why. 😕

Anyway, I've decided to wait and see what else is released this year. I think once the initial hoopla dies down, these will be more available. Unlike the BB58 which is still kind of hard to get in the US. Also think I'd prefer that glassbox Carrera panda, if TAG Heuer ever gets around to making the proper Panda re-edition that we've been waiting for. 😗
My two cents - I find the big issue with the 41mm Black Bay non contouring slab side. It looks and wears bigger due to that for me. A tapering side profile would help it wear better and not so large. They should slim the side and let the base protrude a bit to help it wear and appear slimmer. The BR03-92 that Jim refers to wears great on the wrist. It has a nice profile and wears more like a 40mm watch where the BB41 seems to wear much larger. The BB58 is great for many wrists as even though its smaller it still has presence and wears bigger with its slab side.

Sensible not to rush into it. It's hot right now, but in a year or twos time, people will have moved on to something else and you can either pick up a bargain, or there'll be something else you really want (like a panda Carrera).

Supposedly the new Chrono's case was reshaped to help it be a little less slab sided. But it's a real shame they couldn't make a more compact package, since it's supposed to be retro. This side by side with a Daytona shows how much relatively bigger it is. The Daytona is a much better size IMHO, if only they were more attainable to the average Joe.

Yes, but visually the Tudor seems much larger, doesn't it?

Yeah it looks at least 42mm. might be 39.6 vs 41.4 or something like that.

The Daytona is closer to 38.5/39mm (model dependant) than the marketed 40mm. Visibly it’s clearly smaller than the 40mm Sub without even getting the measuring callipers out.

I think because people are so obsessed with measurements being exact on watches nowadays manufacturers are stating actual sizes, not marketed sizes hence the “massive” different above.

Wears very nicely. I had no massive love for the daytona before I tried one on, but after I understood what the fuss is about.

Generally not a Breitling person, but I really like that green dial chrono.

And I'm afraid I agree with him about TAG this year. They haven't got the Aquaracer designed or positioned right imo. But as ever, it'll be the market that decides I guess.

He is spot on in his analysis about W&W. Brands would be a lot better off releasing on other dates to get more attention and not drown in the flood of press releases. The W&W fair concept makes sense in physical form but this digital version makes no sense. I wonder how much brand pay to have their name on the list of brands participating. As he says about Breitling, they participated without officially participating. Hodinkee even listen Breitling in their top list article from W&W and Breitling payed nothing to W&W.
