To be honest I find GMTs pointless unless a complication you actually use (daily or weekly).

The only GMT I actually like is the Mido Hodinkee Ltd Ed

I like the look of the, often contrasting, additional hand but is also pointless for me too. As is any chronograph for pretty much everyone these days!

Chrono is a lot less useful to me than GMT. Even not travelling much post pandemic, it is useful having a second timezone. Mine is usually set on the time zone of my boss, or the team/customer I’m working with currently. It’s very useful being able to see what time it is there and saves me doing clock math.

I completely do the same if my customers were overseas.

I used a chronograph a lot when I had one, timing my lunch hour, walks to work, perfect tea brewing time, cooking, although I did find when having the Monaco compared to either the Carrera or Speedy, I actually like the 12hr timing function.

As much as I hate dates, when I'm not working I never know the date. So would be handy.

Diving bezel I use multiple times a day and much more useful than a chronograph when cooking.

I like a chronograph with a dive bezel for cooking. Chrono to time shorter things and the bezel for longer things like boiling pasta or baking stuff.
I've really wanted a flyback with a bidirectional bezel to make both tasks easier; and I think I've found one in the Longines Spirit. Will find out next week!

Finally found a great deal on, IMO, the perfect cooking watch.

Longines Spirit Flyback in titanium. Flyback chrono is great for recipes with multiple steps to time - no stop, reset, start again anymore. And the fully graduated bezel is bidirectional so for longer times like pasta or baking, easy to set and switch up.

Overall I do like the watch, but I think it’s a bit lacking at sticker price. For over 50% off though it’s pretty great!

Congrats Adam! I agree that Longines are insanely overpriced for what they are but at >50% off it seems more reasonable 👍🏻

Flyback chrono "for cooking" sounds more like a horology addict trying to convince his angry wife why it was a good idea to buy a new watch 😉

Comes in handy when I’m cooking a roast dinner, various foods on at different times (would be my reasoning to buy one)

I’m way too obsessive about timings for cooking to use a bezel, but they came into their own during the pandemic for Covid tests

Buy an air fryer and set it to synchronise.
