I like the keenness, very much like that he doesn't take himself too seriously to wear a $29 Chevron gas-station watch.
His watches are not my taste. But to take a positive from it (as defeated soccer players say) he's not using his wealth to drive up the prices of watches I do like.

For those of you in based in, or visiting, sunny (sic) Queensland, Omega's new boutique in Brisbane has opened on the corner of Edward and Elizabeth Streets, opposite the TAG Heuer boutique.

I haven't been in yet, but the burly security guard doesn't look that welcoming:

 

Can't be any less welcoming the security guard in TAG's Oxford Street boutique, he looked at me like I was a piece of **** when I went there just after it opened. I often wonder if he's still working there...

 

I found all the staff at Regent St. (i’m assuming you mean London) very welcoming, including the security chap who opened the door with a smile. Maybe someone’s had a word and they’ve changed their game

 

Although I do not dress like a buyer of expensive watches, more like a farmer, I have no trouble with door guards. Maybe East Anglian farmers buy decent watches to go with their new Mercs and Range-Rovers? I walk up entirely expecting to be let in, and say "thankyou" when I am

42mm is still too large for me, but the lugs look better than the Hamilton Intra-matic.

Neither. Just saw the announcements on the web today.

And I totally agree about Breitling upping their design game. Watches still look a little large for me, but the proportions look well executed. Design influence has gone through a paradigm shift in the right direction, IMO.

 

Not really for me. For a Breitling, there is a remarkabkle lack of text on that dial, so that's a positive.

 

TH need to up their game on their leather straps too. The stock black lether strap feels very cheap by comparison. A bit like my prevous watch box complaint. Ok, overall the price point of the overall range is different between say TH, Breitling and Omega. But a £4/5k watch at actual street prices shows very different levels of quality in some of the finishing between some other brands and TH are pushing prices beyond what their quality delivers I fear. More Longines and B&M Territory in terms of how the watch ‘feels’ a quality made piece than Breitling or Omega, based on the ones I’ve bought anyway. Not trying to ‘hate’ on the brand. That’s be nuts as I own 5 TH wtahces. They’ve had a substantial chunk of my recent watch spend. But it is partly the reason I’ve spent more elsewhere recently as the ‘value’ feels more bang for buck. Tudor is another one. But competition is good, anything that encourages TH to do better can’t be a bad thing for us fans.

 

Ah yes, the Breitling Jack Heuer....

 

There does seem to be a heavy Carrera influence in that design!
