On a different note, I was chatting with a guy who had just bought a brand new HMT Master II Root Beer earlier. On paper, not something I would necessarily go for. In the real world this thing just looked stunning on the wrist. Proper nice.

I didn’t watch the video but I don’t think either the Navitimer or Speedmaster is disappointing in the least. I could understand the Monaco because it’s pretty thick (as was the original) but I think it’s just another wannabe YouTube star trying to stir up controversy so his video gets lots of engagement
It's just a laugh - all done in good fun, and he knows they're great watches. But what watch is perfect?

I found the video interesting, it has lots of historical origin tidbits. His disappointment has nothing to do with aesthetics such as thickness, more to do with the history of the watches and their claim to fame. As Charlie mentioned, it's just for fun, more tongue and cheek.

Pretty absurd.
like 99% of youtube content.
Yes Siffert played a major part in featuring Heuer in the film but he didn’t choose the Monaco.
The original Monaco wasn’t that thick. It was by ‘60s or ‘70s standard but today it seems to have gained roughly 50%. It was a big turn-off when I tried on the new skeletons. Massive.

@Anthony.R's 1133B Transitional measures 14mm in thickness, but wears thinner than the C11 (14.4mm). We think it's due to the caseback shape, the modern Monaco's caseback seems to make it sit taller. I don't get why the H02s are around 15mm, one would think modern advancements should allow for a slimmer watch, rather than thicker. 😵‍💫

Yes I much prefer wearing the 1133B as opposed to rhe CAW211P. Thinner and feels not as bulky.

My CS2110 Monacourt is ‘only’ 13mm. I didn’t realize the 1133 was 14mm. The manual 73633 is 13.5mm. That would mean TH’s first re-issued Monaco of the ‘90s was the slimmest in history? It does feature the old style caseback, although screwed and not snapped.

Seems TAG Heuer in the '90s got a lot of things right! 👍

Here are my pair of vintage early 1970s Yemas, which I like to call the French Heuer...

a Rallye Formica and an Alpine-Renault branded Yema Rallye

As many of you know, Yema, is a French watch manufacturer and pretty similar to Heuer, known for sporting chronographs (motorsports, sailing, etc.). Not as well known as their Swiss counterpart, they kind of have a cult following in the vintage watch world. One cool fact is that Mario Andretti actually wore a Yema Rallye (rebranded Wesley's) chronograph during his 1969 Indy 500 win.

£8k though.

Huh, it's only a bit under 9k US here.

Obv does not include tax, but even in the highest jurisdiction it'd still be ~9500 all told.

That’s UK pricing I guess.

I am rather fancying the Tudor Pro Cycling teams officially allocated piece. Only available to team riders and staff so far. Cool though.
