Visiting the Omega forum is like a bizarre parallel universe where it looks the same as here, but it's not... 馃
Indeed!

From Omega's website: "007 has worn a Seamaster since 1995." So I looked it up and there's no Omega in the movie. Lazenby wears a Rolex 6238. So Omega's now making LE watches to highlight anniversaries of obscure Bond movies that don't even feature their watches? WTF
IIRC, Omega also released a Bond watch to celebrate 50 years of James Bond. Ironic too, as the first movie Dr No featured Sean Connery wearing a Rolex Submariner. In the original source books, Ian Fleming wrote that Bond wore a Rolex. Connery, Lazenby and Moore all wore the Submariner. Although in Moore's later films it was switched to a Seiko. I think this Seiko was the start of product placements, which Omega eventually got the rights for, starting with Brosnan's Bond.

Fun fact, Timothy Dalton's Bond wore a Heuer 1000. 馃榾

Yes that鈥檚 an epic Heuer, and demands quite a premium over other models of the 1000.
It鈥檚 a smart move on behalf of Omega in any case. They鈥檙e basically claiming the (history of the) Bond watch and will get away with it for the most part.

Of course most of the buying public will have no clue and be sucked into the hype.

Nope, something to do with the Bond family crest.

Ah the fictional character also has a fictional crest.... at least Alec Monopoly is real (ish)

Yes, as I mentioned previously, the 12 o'clock marker is paying homage to the Bond family crest. See the shield.

So I tried the Apollo on this morning and it's.... okay. Half tempted to review it 'Revolution' style; one paragraph about the moon landings (just in case anybody missed it) one paragraph about the Speedmaster II then two paragraphs about the watch where I quote word for word Omega's press release with all the 'impressive' technical specs.馃槈

Breitling relaunching the Avenger, I am surprised, I thought they were getting rid of all the cool stuff and concentrating on being 'retro'...

Still got the winged logo I notice, is this going to be a Heuer/TAG Heuer type situation do you think?

Over to you Jim Dollares.
Yes the tiny old man Kern realized that it was a mistake to tell the market that Breitling would change into being a pure heritage under the radar and not too exciting brand.

About the new Avenger and Superocean lines worth knowing though:

1. crappier casebacks with less finish/details
2. Increased prices
3 Schneider logo no longer in white gold, now in cheap ass brass instead
4. Deployant clasps for rubber straps has decreased finish and feeling. The since long famous superb premium feeling of those clasps has now changed to a product that feels obviously cheaper to handle.

To summarize: less premium and cheaper to produce combined with higher prices! Jeeeej...
