or SilverStone, specially this weekend! 😉
Great choice! 👍 This could have been the better reveal event.

Yes it really does look like silver stone. Whenever I gaze into the dial, the Silverstone race keeps popping up into my mind now. The British GP would have indeed been a very fitting reveal location, given the silver stone finish of the dial. A missed opportunity perhaps.

But I have a feeling TAG Heuer wants to launch each one at a different kind of racing event and in different locations around the world.

Yeah. Since TAG Heuer is a prime sponsor of the Formula-E, that probably swayed the decision in that direction.

Spotted this one on Chrono24, but the asking price is even higher at $11,325. 😲
https://www.chrono24.com/tagheuer/monaco-1989-1999-special-edition-limited--id11666619.htm

And there are still 5 red ones for sale on Chrono24 ... admittedly two of them are a bit odd with one listed as not in stock and the other from Morocco... but even still you’d think they’d go pretty quick. They’re obviously still asking too much at the 9000-10000USD range....

This is why Rolex often now don’t provide the buyer with warranty cards and other paperwork at purchase on some models to prevent profiteering, not sure if I agree with it, but?

Thought I’d throw a NATO strap on the 90s Monaco and just see how it came up. Also means I preserve the original strap for a while - not sure how much I like it... will test it out for a few days

The color is nice but the format of nato on Monaco is a no from me. Perhaps you can find a nice leather strap in a similar color?

Not sure, maybe if the colours had been reversed, I’ve had a few different styles myself, not all I have put out in the wild😟

Thanks for sharing. That strap gives the watch a totally different look. But for my taste, I think I'd try a nato strap of the same color scheme, to keep the look truer to what the 90's designers had intended. I think the Red Bull F1's nato strap could go very nicely. But the F1's lugs are 21mm compared to the Monaco's 22mm, so there'd be a slight gap.

EDIT: Replaced previous image, as it was noted to be a fake.

I also thought about a Martini Racing nato strap, but after seeing this pic, I said "Nah!". 🤮

Agree, I also prefer the Monaco on a rally or croc strap, don't care for the metal bracelet either. If I were to get an aftermarket strap, I'd look for something like these.

Having said that, I think the original TAG Heuer strap is absolute perfection for this watch and nothing will top it. I hope to get an OEM replacement strap as a "back-up" if and when available.

I know it is off topic, but the photo of the Red Bull F1 is of a replica.

Was just looking at it thinking what the hell is up with that F1 looking totally off with silver sub dials and glossy bezel 😵‍💫

Shaaaame on you @Mspeedster :whipped:😉

An easy tell is that the subdials at "9" and "3" are lower and directly in line with the 9 & 3 markers which pushes the date window down so it is not lining up with the "4" marker.

I also thought the color of the blue was a little too bright, but as I don't own a Red Bull F1, thought it might have been the lighting. Was just looking for a quick pic to show the strap. Nobody's perfect. LOL. 🙄

I also thought about a Martini Racing nato strap
Ha, ha, beat you to it! I already ordered and received it.
However, there is just one key problem, I'm still on the waiting list for the watch. 🙁

That said, just like you, I would probably just leave the factory strap on. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

I'm sure it's just a matter of time before you get the watch. You definitely beat me to it on the strap! LOL. Now I'm tempted to buy a Martini nato just for the heck of it, to see how it goes with the silver grey dial. But like Jim, I'm generally not a fan of nato straps on the Monaco.

Some goodies from the NYC event. Hope some of this stuff finds its way to ebay. 😀
