Well, kind of a new post. 馃槈

I wrote the first overview of the 1000 series back in 2009 and since then have learned a lot more about the series..so, time for a total re-write, and some new and much better photos as well.

I always wonder if an article on the 844 watches is complete if it doesn't include some mention of the other watches that used the same case, especially seeing as those do provide the most reliable source for case parts.

Apart from observing that several other brands used the same case, what I couldn't add (but have been trying to hunt down for years) was who owned the case design and who made the watches. Heuer almost certainly didn't make these watches, and I can't see that Monnin did after the first year. It's probably Roventa Henex.

The cases were made by M.R.P, but that doesn't mean that they owned the design, or assembled the parts.

That's a long way of saying that I would have included more info if I'd known the answer to these questions

True enough.
The same is true for the dials too.

But my dilemma would be whther that sort of thing would belong in the main article or perhaps a different one detailing the buying and restoring.

Awesome piece D.C. I can't help it, but this is the 5th time I'm reading your post on 1000 series馃榾 Also just watched this video for the 10th time, talk about obsession. Actually downloading it now.

It is just so fascinating to try and comprehend how the 1000 series (quartz and automatic) saved the company and yet they had such short run. I mean for 844/3 in particular we're talking about a watch that was produced only for 5 years, wow. I can't wait for mine to arrive as it's on its way with the Spanish post now馃槈

Not really a comparison review just a small bit of information, that is pretty subjective. But then again I like the visual comparison here. An added bonus, the original Diving Instruction Manual warms my heart.

Totally agree these Heuer (or Tag Heuer for that matter) divers are addictive or is it me who is addictive to them? 馃榿
