Does look quite nice there I must admit... albeit the surround looks grey rather than silver..

On the new Monaco, the "square" outside the "circle" is off-white . . . and a good match to the outer track of the rattrapante pocket chronograph that inspired the new watch . . . it's one of those finishes that changes colors with different light at different angles . . . I would call it "off-white", and leave it at that.

Here, you can see the difference between the bright white and the off-white that Heuer used in the 1960s.

I can’t keep a T shirt white for 15 minutes! A white watch strap might? survive longer, but I doubt it. Wife reckons I need to keep my arm in a poly bag might work, although I’m worried the bag would end up over my head!

Yeah, that strap is going to get very grubby very quickly eh... white rubber for the win.

Holy smokes. First time I've wanted Monaco since 1998. Love this one!

Pricing aside, these look fantastic. Well done, TAG Heuer.

Also, I concur on the white strap for the new Gulf. Love the looks, but like @Pitfitter446, I can get a white shirt dirty in no time. 😁

5k is closer to the price I might be prepared to pay.

It’s not just TH that are having used value problems. The ceramic Planet Ocean 600m is now £11.5k new, £6k on watchfinder.
5k is what a dealer friend is selling the Dark Lord for if you're interested.

So not £10k....
Most of us (@Hubert, @C-Balls, and myself) saying 10k were referring to the USD price. Which when sales tax is added, will put both of these above $10k (in most US states).

I thought the 2021 Titan Monaco was great but had a really hard time with its near $8k price. I like both of these even more than the Titan but have an even harder time with their near $10k price.

It also comes with the Blue & Orange strap from the CAW211R Gulf.

I’ve never been a fan of this dark lord, it never felt like a great interpretation of the original.

I'll add that my problem with the price has more to do with wanting to buy one, rather than TAG raising prices.

Objectively speaking, TH hasn't raised the price that much compared to the 2023 Racing Blue Titanium C11 Monaco, which IIRC was $9200. The new Gulf is $9550, not bad compared to the Blue, but quite a bit more than the $7900 2021 Titan. Yet when I look at my Titanium Omega 007 Edition Seamaster, it was $9200 back in 2021 and is now $10,600. I just can't afford to buy anything these days. 🙄

At this price point Zenith offers the better movement in the Safari or Shadow (both ti 2) so the Monaco would not even be a consideration for me.

I think we can agree that all TAGs are overpriced, especially when one considers the movements used.

But at the end of the day, we love what we love, and I love the Monaco. I haven't been as excited for a new Monaco release since the 2019 50th Anniversary watches. My 90's Edition Monaco 50th was $6550 back then. OTOH, I still see aftermarket asking prices well over $10k. 🤔

I think Chat GPT has some issues...
Good, I can rest comfortably knowing that my Aquaracers have proper Mac Queen heritage

I have to admit the Gulf is a beauty.
