Although I don't lust for one, I think this is a nice improvement compared to recent Senna editions.

Senna's memory deserves better.
I agree, but it's better than last year's models.

I'm really sorry they didn't account for a rubber strap, like the older one.

That rubber strap is awesome, I wonder if it would fit my CAU2012? (Assuming you can get one?)

It's the same as the ones on the Calibre16 Monaco Grand Prix limited edition, 22mm lug width.
They are available online from resellers. Not expensive compared to leather.
Check http://stores.ebay.com/originalstraps?_rdc=1 on the bay, they have it or can get it at a good rate.

Thanks, the only thing is the CAU2012 is a Formula One not a Carrera and the strap is a very tight fit. I'm waiting on a BT0717 and I'm not even 100% sure that will fit...

But if the Senna strap did fit that would look amazing

I think your watch is less than 22 at the lugs.
You can find very similar aftermarket designs in the right size.

I measured it at 21.8 or something, it's definitely bigger than my WAH1110 which is 20mm. The width of the BT0717 is probably not the biggest issue, I can probably shave a tiny bit off if necessary. It's more that the end is enclosed by the case, whereas the Carrera design has open lugs, that's my concern.

I did see a rather nifty looking rubber strap with orange trim in Debenhams, if this doesn't work out I might try that one, although I'm not sure if the orange is quite the same. Could look a bit OTT with too much orange... it's dearer than the TAG strap as well. I think it was about £75...
