Not to fan the flames, but here's today's addition: @jBalvin
That's just creepy.
Someone in the TH PR department should perhaps realise that photos of their old bald caucasian leader hugging praying young men could be misinterpreted by their target demographic?

Makes you wonder, is JC Biver the CEO, or also an ambassador?

Apparently a Colombian singer. So he is a regional ambassador.
Regional Ambassadors! I'm going to apply to be Ambassador to my office and get a free watch.

I think DC/Calibre11 is a better brand ambassador than all those celebrities combined!
I've never bought a watch because I saw it on the wrist of a high profile ambassador, however, I've bought several watches after seeing them on Calibre 11.

This feels like the making of a new thread "How many watches have you bought because you saw them on calibre 11?"

In my case, 1...so far.

Soon to be 2; I hear you are on the lookout of a JH80.

My first TH was the Carrera 300SLR.
I researched it and stumbled on calibre11.com - everything went downhill thereafter.

I have to say, I don't mind seeing her face on the wall of a TAG Heuer boutique compared to say, some of the less visually appealing brand ambassadors. Also if I was in JCB's position, I'd be happy surrounding myself with stunningly beautiful models too, this is the reason he's never going to retire.

Oh man! OK, that's get this ambassador bashing going again! Just kidding!

Always a great discussion with you guys whenever this topic comes up, which seems to be quite a bit lately. Great to hear different opinions from a variety of members on here. I get the sense that the newer collector sees what TAG is doing is OK and has to in order to keep the ship afloat. Meanwhile, it seems like some of the older collector, myself included here, does not like the path TAG is taking. Why? Because we are passionate about the brand. We value the innovation Heuer made in the early years. And most of all, we value the impact Heuer had made in the watch world.

At the end of the day, us older farts must face the fact that TAG Heuer is owned and operated by the largest fashion house in the world. Main word here is FASHION in which the bottom line is to be as profitable as possible because they have an obligation to shareholders. Rolex who is independently owned and has no shareholders to please can continue to do what they do because their only focus is watches. Although OMEGA belongs Swatch and they do have an obligation to shareholders, their core business is watches so that is all they are focused on.

Does JCB cares about the history of the brand? I don't think so. I remember him say in one of his interview that it's just a 'TAG'. He has a job to do which is to make TAG profitable for LVMH; after all he is getting big $ to do so.

How much innovation can there be though in the 21st century? You can innovate for the sake of it, but TAG already made 1/1000th mechanical time pieces... and JCB decided that was not the route for TAG. You can see his point, if you are operating in the £1-5,000 market then making watches that cost £50,000+ is a bit daft - much as I love the Monaco V4 etc.

But I think those pieces actually achieved very little in terms of justifying TAGs credentials. Surely bringing a cheap tourbillon to market is also innovative?

And yes, ultimately TAG is owned by LVMH and they want to sell watches and make money... the simple answer is if you don't like the watches don't buy them. I can't really believe someone would NOT buy a watch because of the ambassadors though..

I do indeed. I have a picture of it over my desk actually... although it's a close up where you can only see the hands and some of the gubbins...
