But they do WR testing at the factory with the crown not screwed in so it's not really necessary as I understand my from Archer.

Not really, WR ratings are with the crown screwed in. They're still fairly water-resistant with it unscrewed though - those explanations were for people who washed their hands or went for a light swim with an unscrewed crown, and were panicking about water ingress.

With sealing technology as advanced as it is these days though, screw-down crowns are no longer necessary as they once were. Watch companies just find that many consumers still prefer them as it gives them a sense of security.

100m, wow! Only for true adventure seekers. Great innovation that screw down-crown. Definitely makes me wanna stay true to myself.

Can’t wait to feel in total harmony with myself when I wind that crown. I might quick-release.
It sounds to me like @Yago is experiencing buyer's regret for having bought his last Heuer oldtimer rather than the new TH Flyback Autavia with all its cutting edge adventurous features… 😁
😉

BTW: Did they change that quartz snafu on the website already?

It looks in these pics from Panerai and TH (if I discern correctly) the crown is pulled out:

Certainly doesn't appear the crowns are unscrewed on the Aquaracers, I'm not sure about the Panerais though as I haven't handled any closely.

My 844 Edition for comparison, screwed down vs unscrewed:

What do you think of this pic from Rolex, the bottom one seems very clear;

From some reading on Hodinkee , Rolex and elsewhere, it seems that they’ll sometimes test the unscrewed, single-seal crowns to 50m or so as part of their customary “certified beyond the limit” ethos. But no, screwing down the crown is definitely necessary for full water resistance as it engages all three seals in the case hence the “Triplock” branding.

I found this post about a SMP😜retty reassuring with the crown fully pulled out albeit tested to 10 bar in a dry pressure test, not sure how many seals are in the crown:

Swedes don't actually eat meatballs, that's just Ikean propaganda. Swedes eating Herring, Mackeral and any other fish they can get their hands on. I don't know if they eat boiled sausages, you'd have to ask Beardy.

I know northing about boiled sausages, but I did enjoy the meatballs when I worked at that former pink shirt home furnishing store (now yellow shirts)

There you have it. Actually quite impressive for an older watch, to pass 10 bar even with the crown in the time setting position.

Just goes to show the lengths these guys will go - oftentimes a really good dive watch will be good for at least 25% over the depth rating, which is especially nuts for 300m-rated watches. Because beyond that, you're talking about saturation diving, in which case you're almost certainly not gonna be using a mechanical dive watch!

Is if just me or has TH potentially used the exact same handset on the “Autavia” three-handers and chronos? 👎

While these hands kind of work well on the former (due to the “double-rehaut”), they seem to look a tad short on the latter, no?

On a NATO strap. Pic via @kinkongwatchco
Don't know if it's just the Angle but the Strap looks like it flares out a bit. Not great.

Strange, it seems the news of the new Autavias is slowly finding its way to the watch sites

https://www.ablogtowatch.com/tag-heuer-unveils-three-new-autavia-60th-anniversary-watches/

As with many of the brand’s modern sunburst dials, the silver finish is dynamic and deeply grained in images, with a stark contrast between highlights and lowlights.

I should invite this watch journalist to our church, he seems to have silver dial in his heart

Well what else are they gonna say?

Hodinkee has a way of gushing over every watch they write about - because hey whaddaya know, they have it in stock in their store and you can buy it right now!

Unusual for them to actually say what needs to be said.
