Another shot of her Aquaracer.

Matches her style and outfit! Winning combination ::rimshot::

She represents Japan BTW. Father from Haiti and Mother from Hokkaido, Japan. Uses her mother鈥檚 last name Osaka. Born in Japan. Raised in the US. 馃槈

Why did TAG HEUER give the discontinued Aquaracer to the new Ambassador?
Does anyone know the reason?

It must be her own choice 馃憤
Doesn鈥檛 have to be the latest and greatest 馃槈
As long as it鈥檚 a TAG Heuer 馃榾

Its funny because I saw her wearing what I thought was an AR in previous matches and yesterday in the final also.
It seems though that after the match and before the ceremony, she change to what I think is a Montreal Carrera.
I remember thinking during he prize giving that she had a chronograph on this time, but looking back at the match she had an AR on as you can see in the photo of her hand extended thanking her team straight after the match.
I thought that maybe she prefers the feel of the AR to play in but then has an agreement to change to the Carrera when it's showtime, but I noticed that at her post match press conference yesterday she had switched back to the AR , so who knows????

Anyway, she is a bit of a quirky girl and think she suits the colourful nature of the Montreal Carrera.

It does seem odd. I'm guessing a TAG Heuer representative was on hand and asked her to wear the Montreal for the award ceremony. Or maybe like @heuerholic suggests, she's just a quirky girl.

The Aquaracer seems like a much better match for her, both on and off the court.

I think TAG Heuer would request her to wear a Carrera or Connected during the ceremony as these are flagship models. These aren鈥檛 practical during the game. She probably switches again later because she鈥檚 more comfortable with the AR and she鈥檚 indeed quirky or stubborn like that.

She actually used to hold dual citizenships (US & Japan), but she relinquished her US citizenship in order to represent Japan in the 2020 Olympics. To have lived in the US since she was 3, she must feel like an American, but with a strong bond to Japan at the same time. Just another "quirk". 馃檮

I read somewhere that her parents chose Japan to represent early on since she was brought up in a Haitian/Japanese household values/culture. Did you know that aside from TAG Heuer, she is actually a brand ambassador of LV 馃槻

Yes I did know about her LV sponsorship and parent's decision. Osaka first caught my attention in 2018 when she defeated Serena Williams to win the US Open.

I'm just saying, growing up in the US since she was 3, she must feel like just any other American. Then to give up her US citizenship because it's what her parents had decided, must've felt a bit weird.

Best feeling. (When you鈥檙e American but have a strong bond with your ancestral homeland) Makes a home cooked meal way more fantastic.

I have a friend in NZ who鈥檚 son is half Japanese half Kiwi. He chose to represent Japan in tennis rather than the country he grew up in due to The Japanese tennis federation having more money, more sponsorship opportunities and probably more clout in world tennis in general.
It worked, he鈥檚 a pro tennis player on the ATP now I believe.
Naomi wouldn鈥檛 have lacked sponsorship opportunities or money in the USA I would think, but would have had to compete with a much larger group of very good players compared to Japan.

That may be the reason for choosing to represent Japan. What ever the reason, she is a quirky girl and was so awkward when she first appeared on the scene. It鈥檚 great to see her not give a shit about what people think now and be herself.
Congrats to her on winning her 4th Grand slam.

I have the same exact thoughts on this 馃憤 Maybe more support during her formative training years. By representing Japan and competing with US/European players, instantly makes her a global sports star. 馃槈

Japan also gets the quirky TAG Heuer special editions 馃槣

And today Naomi has gone back to the Aquaracer for all the Day after press shots and celebrations.

Must be her Watch of choice i guess.

She has great style and obviously loves bright colours and patterns. TAG Heuer should design a watch with her with bright colours. Would stand out during her matches.
