I can barely make it out. How was your experience with TAG’s heritage center? Do you have before & after photos of the watch?
I’m interested to know how they treat an old watch like that... not much information out there...

·In my case I was in desperate need of a replacement bezel. So I had to confirm that the part was available and then sent the watch. The movement didn't need any kind of work just a regular service. I will post during the weekend a couple of photos.
One more thing I would like to mention, you should expect several hundreds of CHFs and at least 4-8 weeks.

·You can check with the American Watchmakers - Clockmakers Institute https://www.awci.com/ and search for a Professional near you that works on, and possibly has a TAG Heuer parts account. They list two individuals with CW21 Certification in California, one in Los Angeles and the other in San Diego. There are more in Utah, Washington, etc.

Oucchh!!! Huhuhu never thought about the cost.... need advise from all of you fellow tag owners... im kind of confuse with the miscellaneous charges which is twice...

Given that prices in the USA are rather higher than in the UK I would say that is OK. The two Misc items seem to be the pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock, although why they are not identical is a mystery to me. You might save on the service cost with an independent but also may finish up paying more for the pushers and crown.
There have been a lot of developments in lubricants since the 1970s and I work on the principle that a proper service will keep it running well for at least 5 years if worn daily and proportionately more if wrist time is shared with other watches. So possibly USD40-80 a year, how much tipple-of-choice does USD80 buy you?
Now some good news: No mention of replacing or even re-luming dial and hands, or polishing the case! Even so I would have a lawyer draw up a document ruling out any such work and attach it firmly to the watch itself, not just place it in the shipping box. Oh, and you want all parts that have been replaced returned to you too.
Edit: Wait a minute! Are we discussing a 1970's watch or a 2000's watch (which I know nothing about)? My comments are based on having several 1960/70's watches serviced recently.

·Well, yeah, but wrist-watch Autavias have been produced from 1962 to present. Maybe with some short gaps but with a lot of internal changes on the way. Yours in the avatar looks to to be later, maybe 1990s-2000s? My most recently made "nice" watch is from 1993, and not a TAG-Heuer so I know little (OK, nothing) about the modern stuff. However I have sent a very late 1970's Omega back for official service through an AD, and the prices you have been quoted are not out of line with what that cost me. More than it's worth 🙁

Wow really?! Sorry to hear that, so i would say im still lucky for the price qoute?! Oh well it seems i have no choice to go for it then, since i love this watch and planning to give it to my son nxt year when he graduate high school.

No Autavias, I'm a Carrera guy, ever since my own dad gave me a new one in 1970. Halfway through college, and just starting my short rally navigating (amateur) career. But hey, they do the same job on the wrist. I have used my old Carrera to time the start of sail-boat races, office building fire-drill evacuations, computer network latency, how long it takes for the bus to pass my kitchen window and come back in the opposite direction and so many other things. It is extremely rare for me to wear a non-chrono watch.

·For the era of Autavia you have which was produced by Tag Heuer I’d say it’s a no brainer not to get it sorted via an AD.
As these are not into the vintage realm of the older Heuer Autavias then changing crowns, pushers etc. does nothing to devalue the piece, and you may as well do these items now rather than later when parts may be scarce IMO.
Let’s be fair about it as well it’s done quite a few years since it was originally bought, so a little TLC and money given seems appropriate and no point in skimping.
As these are not into the vintage realm of the older Heuer Autavias then changing crowns, pushers etc. does nothing to devalue the piece, and you may as well do these items now rather than later when parts may be scarce IMO.

Funny, I've just dropped off my new Siffert this Wednesday for warranty repair at a Tourneau, also in California. Let's see who gets theirs back first 😀
Just got my autavia last friday (7/16) and it works fine.
I end up paying $757 including sales tax. Anyway, i upload some pix with the parts replaced. Will see how it turns out after test drive it.

It took Tourneau and/or TAG 3 weeks from dropoff, to determine that it must be serviced in Switzerland rather than New Jersey. Have heard nothing since.
