I've played with the idea of hunting one of these, but those subdial hands have pretty much turned me off it.

What's wrong with them? I don't think I'd say they bother me any...

I feel like this one just offers such a TOTALLY different look/feel than the 211A/P Blue versions, even though so much is the same.

This is a re-issue of the 1133G.

Duh. Why didn't I put that together....

Would love a vintage Monaco someday, but I don't think I could ever pull the trigger on one that wasn't in 'perfect' shape, and for what something in that condition costs, I'd never be able to swing that....

Indeed. With many releases I wonder why people don’t just buy the original at the same or often even a lower cost. For the Monaco this certainly isn’t the case.

This was my first Monaco. Perfect companion for the Blue McQueen.

My thoughts exactly. It's amazing what a few different colors can do to make something look and feel so different and unique.

I don't like the pointed shape (the squared-off ends of the normal hands work better with the overall theme, obv) but more importantly I don't like the way the polished steel color disappears against the black background compared with the white they should have been.

Still, one of my favorite versions of the modern Monaco.

Having not seen one in person, I never noticed that. White would have definitely worked better. Still a watch I'd love to have, though!

Partners in crime with my CAW211P 😎

These bad boys side by side. The Monaco 1133B & 1133G actually came out the same time in 1969. The blue one became a SuperStar hit as we know it and the rest is history 😉 But the grey dial was always a popular and favorite one amongst the discerning Heuer collectors. The grey dial feels more formal vs the blue dial which is more sporty IMHO. 👍

PS: CAW211B is actually the first 39mm Heuer Monaco Calibre11

Actually wasn't a hit at all at first 😉 It was a bit too weird for most people, plus it was very expensive at the time and sold very slowly. The story goes that the only reason it was in 'Le Mans' was because Heuer had no Autavias to lend to the production. And while the Monaco saw a small bump after that, it certainly wasn't a superstar as production quietly ended in 1974 or so. Wasn't until later that interest picked up, leading to TAG's reissues in the 2000s
