FYI, Marlboro decals for the MP4/4 are available aftermarket. For my models, I like to add the Marlboro sponsorship (if the car doesn't come with them), as I want the cars to look as they did when they were raced.

 

That depended on the race. In the UK, after a certain year, the cigarette advertising has to be removed so no Marlboro on the McLarens and no John Player Special on the Lotus's (I think it was Lotus, I'm going off my flaky memory here).

 

That is true. But in McLaren's case, usually they had black rectangles where "Marlboro" would normally be, in races where cigarette ads had become politically incorrect. Regardless, the Marlboro race livery was designed to match the cigarette box. So I always hated it when they used the "cover up" alternative livery in those odd races, it just didn't look right. Later they would use "McLaren" instead of the black rectangles, at least that looked nicer, but I still prefer Marlboro.

 

Yes sir! The ones already with Marlboro decals are asking a huge price bump! I’ll look out for stickers like the one below. Tobacco sponsorship is really controversial but we can not deny the historical fact that Tobacco companies have played a huge role in Formula 1 in the past, and (disguised) up to the present (Ferrari’s Mission WinNow & McLaren’s A Better Tomorrow )

I’m really against smoking but they were part of F1 history and their carton pack liveries dictated the colors of the race cars
