Kind of...PVD is a process not a material. The "Phantom" Aquaracer 300 has a titanium case with titanium-carbide coating- same as the Heuer-01.

TAG Heuer doesn't make ceramic cases- just bezels 😉

The scratch resistance is in fact not down to the coating, but rather how hard the surface is that's being coated. That's why Sinn use "Tegimented" steel, ie hardened steel.

Here's one I wrote a while back:

Ahk I thought the 01 was a solid ceramic, btw my first and only black watch the Apple Watch still has zero scratches anywhere even after some bad door jam bangs and scrapes against car doors. Can't believe how well its held up, not a single mark just marks from transfer of paint from other surfaces onto the watch's coating.

Bit off topic, but how are you finding the Apple Watch? Mine's ok...ok rather than great (but quality and design are absolutely first rate)

I'm sort of a bit reluctant to say this too loudly as two watch collectors got very upset at me on facebook over it (almost like I was crossing a union picket line or something) but I've been wearing it almost full time since getting it, I've worn my Omegas / Zeniths on a couple of occasions to formal outings as the Apple Watch is still a bit like sneakers and a tracksuit.

In that time I've gotten significantly fitter and an currently on a 22 day 1 hour per day workout streak (it tracks it rather nicely). I use the chronograph face most of the time, and get a lot more battery life out of it than I'd expected, probably 30 hours average though I charge overnight.

The bracelet (link bracelet) is quite stiff and rigid the first week or two, so much so that I didn't like it and swapped to the sports band for a while but when I got back to it, it wore in after a couple weeks and became incredible comfortable and now I haven't used the sports band since, even when working out.

I'd rate it as very good, pending OS2.0 with native apps and a bunch of new features, the apps I use the most are Skype and Outlook (ironically outlook is now both free and the best mail app on iPhone and Apple Watch). So its been on my wrist 97% of the time since mid June.
