Is my TAG Heuer Authentic? All questions here please

For my benefit (I was the auction winner, discovered this website and the seller kindly refunded) - what are the things to look out for to ascertain if a Monaco is real or fake?
Generally speaking... does it match up to the genuine article. You have to look for quality and details. Handle a few genuine watches and it gets easier.

First thing to do is to get the model number off the back and check the pictures against a reliable source (official pictures of pictures on a reputable website like Watchfinder, A Blog to Watch etc). Just look at every tiny detail, it's no good thinking it's got a blue dial and white subdials, you have to look at the hour markers, the minute track, the hands, the date wheel.... everything. Even then newer fakes are harder to spot, but older pieces are generally easier because the fakes just weren't as accurate.

You were given some feedback on some of the red flags over at WUS. For the benefit of others, the crown had Heuer on it whereas the dial had TAG Heuer.

It also just looked comical in its design but I suppose you would need to more familar with Monacos in general to spot that.

It looks fine, but I can’t be sure. Maybe it’s the picture, but the minute numbers on the dial seem more flat than in the pictures of the official website?:

Hey guys. I found this Tag Heuer 2000 on Ebay with a great price. Can anyone tell if it is real or fake?

Thanks for the reply. I did quite a bit of searching images online, and I can see the difference in colour.
However, there seems to be loads of these on ebay worldwide and I cant find any negative feedback.

I’m sorry but I would say it’s fake... also the text “SWISS WATCH” on the back case instead of “SWISS MADE” looks suspicious... but lets wait for members knowing better this model! 👍

Added one more pic from the side a bit, maybe this helps. Otherwise the watch is really well built, pushers are soft and runs in 10sec/day. The movement looks identical to the one I saw on the website.

Okay, these photos on the link are really disturbing. do you think these pictures are of the actual replica watch, and not an authentic one? i imagine they could use an authentic one for the pictures and send a replica

I am pretty sure these are fake. The simple fact that there are, as you say, loads of these on ebay (and also in blue and two tone) just screams red flag. What other watch of this age and in perfect condition can you buy that easily? Plus as someone mentioned, this looks nothing like the one I featured on my blog which was sold by a guy who bought it brand new from Selfridges in 1991. I even wrote a post a while back about these watches...
