Whatever it is, the dial is ruined in my opinion (seller says it shows "signs of aging"). They also state it's running "strong, but not timed for accuracy". That means it runs, but keeps terrible time presumably. The whole watch looks really inconsistent - shiny polished case, water-stained dial, movement - who knows, looks like a cheap replacement to me, or at least replacement parts used (possibly because the old one had rusted?).

I think it's a Ref. 1611, see the very bottom of this page:

It's a real Heuer from the '70s. Don't know much about these movements, but I think these later '70s Valjoux movements are easier to work on than the earlier ones, or especially the Chronomatic family. It won't go for much - I'd bet even in top condition, this would bring less than $1,000 - but it's a pretty funky, rare watch.

Looks OK to me too, although I thought CAH1113 was the red dialed version.

Yes, sorry, you're right. So is it a dial swap, replacement caseback, or did Tag use the same reference number on a black dial version?

But... having said that, CAH1113 should have an orange dial.

Oddly, this watch does come up on Amazon with the number CAH1113, so something's amiss somewhere.

I think this watch is a CAH1110, so why does the backplate have CAH1113 on it???

Good observation. Maybe some technician swapped the backplate during maintenance by mistake.

Do you think is worth to check also the mechanism inside?

So if you Google CAH1113, then click on the image that looks like your friend's watch, you come to a site that sells fakes. Your friend's watch is listed as a CAH1110 as I thought though, but I would take that as a warning to be skeptical if nothing else...

On a side note - sometimes fake sellers use photos of REAL watches to lure buyers.

I went to a watch shop few hours ago and asked for a check in the mechanism. They said it's real.

The fake one comes with japanese quartz, right?

Now, I've found a picture of a fake one (verified). The numbers 45, 15 and 60 are white instead of red as is in the real piece.
Tag Heuer logo seens awkward (with metallic borders) as well and the bezel looks like plastic.
