Just had a great online chat with Stefano @ Watches and Crystals.

I was asking about authenticity of watches and asked, 'If I buy a watch from you and send it to TAG Heuer for authentication will you take it back if they say it's fake even if it's out of the return window'.

He neatly sidestepped this by saying, if you tell me which watch you are interested in we can get it verified for you - the TAG Heuer boutique is just down the road from us.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
It’s always frustrating when the people who are supposed to be experts end up having a very surface level of knowledge about the product they are selling/servicing. When I was an automotive technician, I was appalled to stumble upon a co-worker who was a HONDA CERTIFIED MASTER TECHNICIAN struggling to answer the most basic Ohms Law question. Once I found out that 80% of automotive technicians were just playing guessing games based on a very surface level of knowledge on the subject, I started to realize the gross lack of professionalism and expertise across all industries. The watch industry is unfortunately, exactly the same.

I graduated from trade school in the top 10% of the whole school, with a GPA of 4.95. And was one of two students out of hundreds to pass our optional ASE tests. What’s sad here is that’s not a flex. The school had no expectations of its students, and the students received a passing grade for just showing up, and distracting the five students who actually gave a flying F. Anyway… that’s my rant of how EVERYBODY SUCKS 🤬😁

I found it on Chrono24. The pins look authentic. What is the opinion of our experts?

I am confused, did you mean that this watch would be the same as the one posted above by @Laredo? They are not the same watch

What makes you doubt its authenticity? Just curious.

It appears that it’s not on its original bracelet. I’m not familiar with this model, so I don’t feel qualified to give an answer. I just want to help in any way I can.

¿Qué te hace dudar de su autenticidad? Sólo por curiosidad.
Hola, gracias por responder, la pulsera no es original, mis dudas son porque desconozco si este movimiento es el que usa TAG heuer, es un Ronda 5040d

I know that the do indeed use Ronda movements in their watches. My WAZ1010 has a Ronda 6003.D and the chronographs have the 5030/5040 usually. Most importantly, it has the screws in the movement spacer/holder. From what I know from talking with some of the more experienced people, the screws are the biggest tell in this case.

I don’t feel qualified to give you a definitive answer, but everything looks ok to me. The movement does look correct though, that’s something I do feel confident about.

Muchas gracias! Me siento aliviado! Este reloj lo compre a la par de un Tag heuer Aquaracer de dama y tiene un movimiento Ronda 775, agrego una imagen

in this forum, more than once there was this topic about screws, and the most experienced in this topic Mr. @jamesbizs said that screws must be in mechanics but not in quartz

I will also add a photo that the seller of Chrono 24 sent me. What do you think, dear experts and beginners, about this: (Autavia)

I’ve said this before. You need to re-read what he said. I’ve had private conversations with him on this. Again, as I have stated before… the screws are in ALL the movements from TAG. All as in all the mechanical movements, and ALL of the quartz movements. The FAKES use screws in the mechanical movements usually, but don’t in the quartz movements.

all genuine TAG Heuer movements should have screws in the movement holder. The fake quartz models don’t, and the fake automatics do (but not always).

I wonder why counterfeiters don't make these screws. Is it really only in TAG?
