I had to send it back to him under eBay T&C’s unfortunately. All the stickers have been removed and bracelet was resized so links have been taken off. He will have a hard time passing it off as new. Also the negative follow up review on his account from me should hopefully help. But yes, more people like myself will be stung by him if they don’t do their due diligence. Shame really!
That's the thing. You didn't have to send it back. You had to send a box with that label back. That's it. And they usually get the negatives removed anyways, so it won't help.

A few days back i was getting bored and decided to order one of those "brand new TAG Heuer boxes with papers" from eBay. Of course it was a cheap and poorly made knock off, but what was interesting was the warranty card. Now we all know that making a warranty card is not difficult, but the interesting part was what came up when you ran the warranty code in the authentication checker. Check it out.

Seems like a welcome crackdown taking place and calling out what's what.

That's good to see - I wonder if that's in response to a watch they've received for validation.

This is new to me… I wonder how accurate that site will ever be, but I’m glad to see this.

So what's the difference between that code, and the serial number on the watches? They would have record of all serial numbers they've ever used, so it should be just as easy to show if a serial number is fake. Instead, they just say it can't be found. And yet they can do this with the cards? I wonder if these cards all have the same code, for example when it comes to the watches that use the REAL serial number of a REAL watch that is registered. The factory would have to find people that post the real watch, with the serial number and with the cards.

I've always wondered, if the factories just buy their own watches, rather than stealing serial numbers. That would be super easy, AND no real owner to complain about their number being used.

I bet tag would be willing to swap a case back with a new serial number for AD bought watches that had their serial numbers stolen.

Before buying this watch I wanted a couple more opinions on the visual authenticity of it. Here are some pictures from the listing:

Thank you in advance for your insight and opinions! I’m newly interested in the horological community and watches as a hobby so I’m a little uneducated when it comes to authentication.

Looks legit to me. Medium size at 35mm. Missing its lume pip on the bezel.

Hi guys.
New to the forum, first of all I want to express my gratitude to all of you fighting against these fraudsters. Last couple of days I've read every single page in this topic because I bought Tag Formula 1 WAZ2113 on the grey market with expired warranty. All of the numbers are ok, ref and serial, checks out in warranty search. Movement is sellita sw200-1 checked with my watchmaker here in Croatia. Can you shed some more light on this one, what are your opinions? Thanks in advance!

I bought a 2nd hand Tag Heuer Aquaracer WAJ2110 a few years back. The shop (UK based) gave me an authenticity paper with a serial number.

After wearing it a few years, I had the watch serviced at a TAG specialist watch repair place in London (different to where I bought it). They identified the watch with a serial number (same number as on authenticity paper). All good, paid £336, have 2 years warranty.

I now typed the serial number into the TAG Heuer warranty website to check. Nothing coming up. Is that possibly a fake watch? I would’ve thought the shop servicing it would’ve told me if it was fake.

Any thoughts?

I wouldn’t worry, none of my aquaracers come up on the website.

Don't think I've ever seen a fake WAJ series Aquaracer to be honest. Website is next to useless for this anyway...

A quick image search shows some waj photos on sites that sell fake watches, but the serial checker site alone is not a reason to worry. If it was a fake, I would have expected the watchmaker to laugh when it was taken for service.
