Good day all. I got this tag Heuer from a auction. Just need some help to identify it and help if it's a counterfeit or authentic piece.
Thanks in advance
Hi @Grant Van Rooyen !
I moved your post to this specific thread for this kind of questions. As another forum member already told you, I also think your watch is fake. I’m sorry

So are/were TAG Heuers really popular in Japan or is it just an enormous source of replicas / fakes ?

Why do you feel many fakes are from Japan? My impression is that the fakes are made in other Asian countries, like China/HK or South East Asia.

I'm in the US but have done business in Japan since the mid-90s. TAG is very popular there. I believe the brand's popularity grew with Ayrton Senna, who was also super popular in Japan. Given his ties to Honda and the fact he clinched all of his 3 world championships at the Japanese GP.

Excellent, thank you for that, all good to know .
There's an amazing number from Japan on ebay and i was just wondering ( as a total newbie) if it's something that should just be discounted carte blanche or if there's a good chance they are genuine

The fakes make their way all over the world, you just need to use the same judgment and caution regardless of country. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Japan if the watch checks out. My last two pre-owned purchases were both rare pieces that I got from Japan.

But not "rare" enough apparently ? ( This from a no-idea-newbie 😀 )
That Monaco was an horrendous fake ::facepalm1::, not similar to any existing Monaco. I was just joking when I called it “rare” 😉

I know - i was suggesting the world might be a better place with one less ? , I.e. a bit rarer 😉

View attachment 1435279 Ok folks......here it is. What do you think.

Seems pretty legit to me. I'm actually surprised how light it is, so I'm pretty sure it's titanium... or plastic, haha
The only thing I'm surprised is that the date isn't on the original warranty card, but then again my formula one I purchased straight from a local dealer is totally blank.

Titanium watches are unbelievably light in most cases. I bought a WAK2180 for my brother, and have a Modular 45 Titanium myself.

It looks okay from your pictures - everything listed matches up with the W.A.S. https://www.was.tagheuer.com/AfterSalesService/CustomerWarranties - but the only way to know for sure is to contact TAG and request verification (they'll send you a pack to post it to them).
