Wait an entire lifetime for that opportunity Just for you Jim.... Not so much what's wrong with this as what's right with it ?... and even moreso, why's he even posting it here ?!??
Again, on closer inspection it actually looks better than I thought, but I think either the bezel is on the wrong watch, or the dial is from a different watch. Is there a number on the back?
Apologies, that was a special for Jim and his strap fascination. I am prepared to accept this was customised / 'repaired' by the supplier around the interesting patina. Whether the patina is genuine or not is questionable and he bought it not working. Not sure whether he repaired or replaced the movement but was bought more for the aesthetic than being the genuine article. I like the look of it. The dial appears to be slightly off from the bezel ( at the very least ) . He also replaced crown and date wheel to complete the customisation - a whim if you will. The numbers are as follows.... Inside - TAG Heuer 387 ETA 555.115 Outside - 962 206. Cheers
So it looks like the case/bezel is correct, but it should have a grey dial... looks like you have the dial from a 974.006 (possibly)
